If you are technically skilled and if your desire is to grow in the consulting industry please do not join EMC Consulting.
The India COE Director, Delivery Managers, Practice Managers will realign you and your skills with their needs and not the organization's. They will make your life miserable with the kind of work you will be assigned. I made the mistake of coming here believing the false hopes given at the time of joining. The current so called Senior management and Service lead team seems to be technically and functionally ill-equipped. They don't seem to focus on strategic decisions or on growth.
Leaders at the level of 55 and 56 are still here just to make money till the business-unit(BU) exists. They don't seem to care about their subordinates. They plan to keep up the utilization by discouraging subordinates and by make them quit the company. They practice the concept'Management by Attrition'. I really don't know what they actually do during their 8 hours of working hours(most of them are not present in the office for even 8 hours). Many a times, I have seen them come to the office at 11AM and leave by 4PM(here, the words'work from home' is an enigma). During the 5 hours of office time, they complete their personal work, real estate, share trading, etc.
If it were any other company, the aforementioned people would have been thrown out of the company by looking at their performance in the first 6 months itself. There have hardly been projects. Profitability of the unit has seen a dip. Revenue growth has stagnated. Employees in India COE are leaving/are encouraged to leave EMC Consulting.
Please do not join EMC Consulting until there are people such as Ashish Mathur, Kumar Nagaraja, Anandh Venkatraman, and Thejus Yerigeri.
Some of their achievements over the last couple of years are listed below:
Closing the key competencies by saying there is no work. Actually these competencies are run as a large units in other organizations. These guys are not capable of generating business.
Misusing the project budget(mainly AI competence). They submit fake bills in the system and get money(team lunch, phone bills, sodexo, shift allowance). They claim shift allowance and get money out of it. Sodexo is one of the other area where there is no track and being misused. If you really audit the expense report for last 6 months, you will come to know what was actually spent and what is put in the system.
These are guys who should be getting the business and expanding the offshore services. But instead they ask people at 54, 53 and 52 to interact with onsite team and get business. What a pity.
They don't know the roles and responsibilities of Service line lead, Delivery manager and Director. Giving gyan and making fun of people has become their day to day tasks.
Though there are surveys conducted, 360 degree feedback taken, and skip level meetings arranged - there has never been any action taken off it. These are done just for name sake.
People who have worked hard(on the few projects) have been ignored and are made as bottom line performers.
In my opinion, people are just here because of the kind of pay, luxury life and all other benefits that EMC provides(EMC Stock options). My personal advice would be: to never think of coming here. It would be better to be in your existing organization.
