What is similar between films like "Salaam-e-ishq", "Honeymoon travels pvt ltd", and "Life in a Metro"? -Multi-storylines in one film.But "Dus Kahaniyaan" breaks all the norms! The stories in DK(Dus Kahaniyaan) are not inter-related to each other.They are 10 different expanded ideas of 6 different visionary people.
Bollywood has come of age.But people are not accepting the new age!
Films like "Naqaab", "Jhoom Barabar Jhoom", "The Train" etc have not found much audience and appreciation.Because of thei growth in the storytelling.And that's what happened to DK.It has already been tagged a FLOP though being a good film.Audience.Very unpredictable!
Lets start analysing the film by disecting each story.
1)Matrimony(Sanjay Gupta)-The story starts as a cliche(Metro, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Murder, Bewafaa), we have seen the wife decieving on the husband.but the real jolt comes in the last scene of the story!
Perfectly narrated story with a superb suspense.
Mandira Bedi is good, Arbaaz Khan and Sudanshu are OK.

2)High On The Highway(Hansal Mehta)-All style no substance.Thats the line which goes for this story.Well edited story.should have been better narrated too.
Jimmy and Masumeh are average.

3)Pooranmashi(Meghna Gulzar)-One of the best story.Critical story, handled and narrated well.
Meghna Gulzar grows.
Amrita Singh is excellent.Minnisha Lamba is alright.

4)Strangers in the night(Sanjay Gupta)-The BEST story of the film.Excellently shot and narrated.
Sanjay Gupta, keep up the work.
Neha Dhupia is excellent.
Mahes Manjrekar is stupid.

5)Zahir(Sanjay Gupta)-One of the best story.Another suspense filled story narrated with aplomb.
Manoj Bajpai and Dia Mirza both.are First rate.

6)Lovedale(Jasmeet Dodhi)-The weakest story after High on the highway.Not narrated well.
Aftab and new found girl are alright.

7)Sex On the Beach(Apoorva Lakhia)-Dissapointing! is the word for this one directed by the "Shoot out at Lokhandwala" director.Story not written and narrated properly.One of the weaker stories.
Dino Morea and Tareena both look sexy.but no acting

8)Rice Plate(Rahul Roy)-Good story with excellent performance by Shabana Azmi.Another sweet suspense filled story which removes discrimination of caste.
Rahul Roy shows promise.
Naseerudin shah is fine.

9)Gubbare(Sanjay Gupta)-The 2nd BEST story after Strangers in the night.
Well written and told story with a suspense element at the end.Reminds you of the Nana-Vivek story in "Darna Mana Hai".
Nana Patekar is excellent.
Natassha is good.

10)Rise & Fall(Sanjay Gupta-Hansal Mehta)-Another story depicting the phrase-'All style no substance'.Not well ended film.
Sanjay Dutt and Suneil Shetty play as seasoned actors.

At the end, DK deserved success
