Dum Maaro Dum: Movie Review
Every paradise has some serpents and Goa has drugs. Rohan Sippy directed Dum Maaro Dum is about the drug menace is Goa and one cop’s attempt to clean up the city.
To begin at the beginning, Abhishek is a corrupt cop in Goa who wants to get the best for his family. His life comes crashing down when a driver under the influence of drugs rams his car and kills his wife and son. 5 years later when he gets a chance to clean up the city of drugs, he grabs it.
Abhishek and his team of 2 inspectors run in to Aditya Pancholi, a business tycoon behind the drug cartel. It’s a cat and mouse game between them slowly revealing how the eco system of the business engulfs so many. Prateik a college student in need of money and Bipasha in search of a career opportunity, both get entangled in the mess. Rana loses the love of his life Bipasha to Aditya but swears to help his friend Prateik out of the mess.
So who is really running the cartel? Whose loyalties lie with whom? Who all survive the mess? And does Abhishek accomplish his task? For all these answers watch Dum Maaro Dum.
The movie has been well shot and edited. The dialogues and screen play is excellent. Background score and songs are also good. Bipasha, Rana, Govind Namdeo have done a good job. Prateik and Abhishek excel in their respective roles.
Dum Maaro Dum is a fascinating watch except for an odd song in the 2nd half that shaves off the pace. With its twists and turns this thriller also has its heart in its place. For an interesting story, excellent dialogues, good acting and fine direction we give it 3.5 stars.
