To put in one sentence Dubai is a mirage of Arabian desert. Dubai hasfollowed a superlative strategy to attract tourists- particularly Asian, who do not get a chance to experience luxuries of life in their own countries. It has the biggest malls, with biggest brands but it is fun only if you have the biggest wallet in your community, otherwise all you will be let with will be an agony of how many things you can never own!!!. For a tourist, Dubai can be enchanting with glittering towers.
Wide roads, a beach and latest cars flying in new areas of Dubai. But thats about it. Everything thing is man-made, at one point, every mall tends to be the same. There are 10, 000 better places to visit on earth than Dubai in my opinion if you are in Asia.
But if you plan to stay for long or settle down, think TWICE. Ask people who have been living here...Dubai of today is completely different from Dubai two year's back. There is crime, which is not reported usually. The ever increasing cost of living is crushing the middle class, most of them are lookign back to go back to their own country or somewhere else.
Unofficial figure of inflation is stated to be more than 20%. Commuting without your vehicle is a mess, you will wait for up to 1 hour for taxi and buses. Cost of living is atleast thrice of that in India, you will have to pay to up to 60, 000 rupees per month for a 1 BHK, that too in crowded areas in Dubai. Racism is rampant, chances are if you are Asian, you will always be paid less than a Westerner.
So people do your research, ask people around you and make your decision.
