Had this movie made 10- 15 years back could have been qualified as a revolutionary in nature. With times exposure to special effects of like Jurassic Park, Matrix and their reach to popular audience has made CG and special effects available across all sections. Vernacular dubbing has also had far reaching audiences who can now enjoy the special effects and understand them too.
Drona has been made to accomodate max effects avaiable in popular platforms in the markets jointed by a dis-joint narration. During one sequence it felt like lift off from old days DD opera chandrakanta. The plot and script drags from the start with the director has nothing to offer more than blue petals coming from nowhere in long sequences of chase by "drona" kid. A typical Chachi and lafantar cousin. So predictable from the start. The story drags on some "already seen" fight sequences in the beginning and then the transformation.
Drona is raised by an uncle who gets this boy from "Senapati" of earlier "Drona", who saves kid drona from evil. Drona is revived through turn of events which do not carry any cinematographic logic. The Cook, The Nun, The Rowdies become Drona's saviour in Firang Desh out of nowhere. While Priyanka, the daughter of "Senapati" becomes his "shadow". Again So usual stuff. The film was meant to be a promotion of special effects and could have been made a 3D Movie for kids. (Well if it becomes a 3D movie, get my royalty for idea)
Evil is killed even after it defeats drona in speed and skill. The Evil in this case Kay Kay was better than any body else in the whole movie. Even tearful eyes of Mrs. Bachhan are the same as that of Kabhi Khushi.... and umpteen other moviews. Kay Kay was nice and if he could have had a better script his perfomance could have been mindblowing.
Abhishek, Well Rehearse, Sharpen your skills. With time going to film festivals, attending world tours and wandering around town holding hands of your Ex-Ms . World Bride. Your acting skills are getting a plunge from already abysmall state.
