In my family, my father developed lower back pain which was uncommon in those days. He had suffered since he was a sportsman. He underwent surgery at Bowring hospital, Bangalore. This was in 80s when I was just a kid. I remember visiting him in the hospital after the surgery. Though he was relieved of the pain, it used to come back more often. He depended on the lumbar belt and gulped pain-killers when it became unbearable. He always ventured out wearing the lumbar belt. Over the period of time, 11 years ago, he developed renal cancer due to which one of the kidneys had to be surgically removed. This was due to innumerable pain killers he depended on for the back pain after the surgery he underwent in 1980s. Though he recovered well and lived a good life, he passed away 10 years ago due to cardiac issue not due to back-problems or renal issue.

I developed lower back pain all of a sudden. This was in 2009. I was over-weight, even now I am and I believed it was due to stress. I tried external applications like numerous creams, physiotherapy etc and the thought of my father's surgery and the painful post-surgery effects leading to renal cancer used to be constantly in my mind. I met a very popular orthopaedic surgeon in my place, who advice me a complete flat-bed rest for 15 days and later if it didn't subside, surgery may have to be performed.

I wanted to avoid surgery to the maximum extent due to the trauma of seeing my father's suffering. My mother came across the ad in the newspaper from Spine care clinic. Though she is from medical profession, she asked me to try Accupressure. This was very far from the place I stayed.

I visited Dr Vijay Sarvottam. After the X-ray, he asked me to undergo MRI probably to confirm his fears. I didn't have much hope and accepted that it may be my fate to undergo surgery after exhausting this last option. He offered to treat me and I thought lets give this a chance.

Believe me or not, after he started treating me, I was up and very normal just after 3 days.yes 3 days. I was on my bed for nearly 10 days and depended on my family even to go to the bathroom. I felt Dr Vijay was gifted with his magical fingers. No instruments, no medicines, no tests, just fingers and a short walk. This gave me a lot of hope and brought in the sunshine I was yearning in my life. I used to feel very happy to come to his clinic. Everyday twice I used to come to his clinic for the treatment, probably for 3 weeks until he let me go. For 2 years, I lead a normal life.

After 2 years in 2011, I stretched my back a bit more than required while exercising and hurt it badly. It was the same kind of pain I had experienced a couple of years ago. But this time, I knew where I should go. So again I went to Dr Vijay who made me feel normal within 3 days of starting his treatment. The best part is his words, "I know your back.no need for another MRI, I shall treat you". Amazing that he still remembered my issue. At first I thought that this was a new issue. I didn't believe it at first. But he was absolutely right. I was up and normal within 3 days. I completed the course of treatment.

This Doctor is an amazing person and I remember telling him that now I am not worried about my back pain should it recur again, since Dr Vjay Sarvottam is here. The Doctor is very honest in telling me that he can cure me only 80%. The remaining 20% is in my hands. He advised me how to stay fit and most importantly to have positive outlook in life.

I feel so indebted to this amazing Doctor. Without surgery, without medicines, without any instruments but only through his gifted hands, he is able to help people like me. I pray that may God bless him and help him to treat as many people as possible.
