Y'day my father was unwell, he had giddiness, so we took took him to Hiranandani hospitals, Thane branch. They did basic investigations and an ECG, which was fine, gave some medications and told us to come back in the evening to meet a cardiologist, as my father is already a cardiac patient.
We went to meet the doctor as told, after looking at the ECG and blood reports, he advised for an MRI brain for the giddiness and told to do the same from Hiranandani, Powai. When we insisted that we will take the test from nearby scan centre and show him the reports, he told us strictly to go to Powai branch!(I guess for commission).
We took our father to powai, it was already 9pm. Those ppl told us that my father has to admitted for MRI for a night! That was ridiculous! Still we dint want anything to go wrong medically, hence we admitted him in a general wards, thinking its only the question of a night stay. By the time the MRI was done, it was 11.45pm and initially they told us reports will be know immediately, but it dint happen so.
Till next day 10AM, no one seemed to know the reports, we kept on waiting. One doctor told us even if my dad felt fine, he has to stay in hospital for 2 more days! God knows for what! We told them we will take the rest treatment from Thane only.
When reports came, it was normal and we were advised discharge.
When bill came it was= 25400 Rs!
We were shocked to see that amount only for a night's stay in general wards plus MRI
MRI costed us 15, 000Rs, when we cud have got it done 7-8, 000RS from any other center. And few medicines, saline bottles and general ward bed costed us remaining 10, 400Rs!
This is the way, these five star hospitals are making money.by looting innocent patients.
