I have been searching for a blog like this so that I can tell every one about my bad experience. I visited Sunita agarwal in 2004 when my vision suddenly became blurry. She said I will have to take a treatment which is for a week. She started injecting steroids to my eyes. she did this for a week and then stopped the treatment saying that I am all fine. my vision also got better. After two days the problem started again. in fact it was worse. I went to her and she did the same thing again. Again after stopping the injections, my vision got blurry and worse again. this time, I couldn't see anything which was even 1 ft away from me. I went to her and she said that she cant treat me anymore and I should go to temple and start doing puja. By then I had already spent about 1 lakh rupees for the treatment. When I was loosing hope on my vision, my dad took me to LV prasad hospital in hyderabad. I got better in two weeks.
My doctors at LV prasad eye institute had to put me on 160 mg of steroids for 3 days to get my vision back. They had to give me such high dosage because of the injections sunita Agarwal gave me in my eyes. She also makes it a point to keep her office gloomy so that people who have good vision also start getting doubts on their vision. It used to take me 30 mins to get to her clinic. After being in the sun for 30 mins, it will take some time for the eyes to get used to the gloomy environment. She would test my vision immediately when I came in to the clinic and say that my vision got worse and I have to pay another 10 thousand rupees for the treatment. I would go for another test after 10 mins and it would be fine. She is very money minded.
Couple of things which every doctor knows but sunita agarwal doesnt.
1. When put a patient on steroids, you should never stop them at once. you have gradually decrease the dosage.
when a patient is taking steroids, you have to give them calcium supplements.
I gained so much weight because of her wrong treatment that it took me 6 years to loose it all. And I am still not out of the mental trauma she put me through.
I wish there was a medical council in india reading these reports and ban her from treating patients. and cancel her doctors degree.(if at all she has one!)
