I have done my graduation from MIT Moradbad, a well reputed college of UPTU, Lucknow now renamed to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University.

As we know that this university has a large number of student base in the largest state of India, therefore education quality here matters a lot to all of us.In my opinion this university has some positive as well as some negative points. Lets first have  a look at positive points.

Pros:-

1-It has a great presence in the state of U.P from its affiliated colleges, so can change the way of technical education in the state easily, if the government is really serious about technical education.

2- This university was established in the year of 2000, and many older institute like HBTI, IET and some private institute like MIT were affiliated to it. Being a mix of government colleges, semi government colleges and private run institute, there is a big opportunity to develop the system where research work can be promoted for faculties and information can be share easily and effectively.

3-Examination process- In my opinion this university has more difficult and tough examination process than many other private universities.

Cons:-

1-Main problem with this university started when there was a flood of private run institute in the state and university started loosing control over all the institutes. All these new established colleges in the era of 2002 to 2010 mainly were not up to the technical education standards, their primary focus was making money. There are some accreditation like NAAC etc that were bought by these colleges. So university needs to be more strict to these colleges.

2-Faculty Recruitment- This is the major concern for the university as the faculty recruitment is done by the individual colleges. Minimum eligibility to become assistant professor is M.Tech and some of the faculties get this degree just to satisfy the norms without actually pursuing the course.

3-Syllabous:- Technical world has changed a lot but still the university is following the old syllabus, and a major part of this syllabus has no relevancy in the present world. Syllabus specially for CSE & IT needs transformation very quickly as the IT is changing day by day.

4-Evaluation Process: Needs to change the traditional way of evaluating the engineering students. More concern should be over project works not on semester exams and backlogs.

5-Placement. Never 100% in any college.

Besides these there are some recent facts that I came to know.

1-Colleges are asking faculty to concentrate on admission as the large number of seats in most of the colleges are not filled. So basically faculties are doing marketing for them not teaching.

2-Admission percentage has fallen down by 50% in the recent years ans some contractors of technical education are forced to shut down their shops.

So choose your college wisely if you are going to take admission in this university, not to worry because still  we have some colleges and faculties in the colleges that are doing a good work for those who couldn't get admission in IIT or NIT but stiil have a spirit to become engineer.
