With the increasing inflation day by day my frequency of visiting fine dining restaurants have gone down in the recent past.But I can's hold myself this sunday,had to go out as it was fine weather and the sun was in mood to play hide & seek with the clouds.So,made a plan with one of my friend to search for a fine dining place in ludhiana.Finally ,zeroed in on this restaurant named DOWNTOWN.I will evaluate it on various parameters ,so that you may get a true picture of it.
Location & Accessibility:- Easily accessible by road situated on Ludhiana-Ferozpur National Highway 95,and ample space for parking as well .The area is on the periphery of the main city of ludhiana.
Ambience:-The quality of the furniture is top notch as well as the cutlery is too good ,decor is in tone with the indian taste ,not too lavish nor too subdued.Napkins & table arrangements are well in order.Lighting is dim & area is not well ventilated.Air conditioning is centralised .So,forget about personal climatic choice.
Service & Staff:- Well trained & professional in approach with frequent gestures so as to oblidge the customers.I was served chilled water as soon as I took my seat besides the table.
Food:- This is the most important aspect of the restaurant,I had planned a seven course meal for my self,but considering the limitataions of my friend I duly declined it.We started with a soup Talumein soup which is made with assorted vegetables & noodles,aroma of garlic filling the atmosphere.As the time passed we ordered basic dish as we were visiting for the very first time.So to judge the quality one should always go for those dishes which you are very well aware of it.Dal Makhni & butter naan along with salad n raita.Our order was served in 15 minutes flat ,pretty quick as compared to other restaurants.The presentation was good and the softness of naan was suberb.Dal was served in a copper metal balti and naans in a steel (high grade) chapati plate.The ghee was dripping from the naans and the dal was pipping hot with cream n celery used as garnishing material.
Menu & Variety:- It had veg & non veg items listed ,cocktails ,mocktails,soups,starters,snacks,main course,Hard drinks,beverages ,rice all are avaliable.
Bar:- As I told you its in ludhiana ,industrial hub of punjab so its understood that a large variety of beers,wines,whiskeys,brandy,rums were avaliable in the bar counter.Along with soda n cold water .
Price:- The meal consisting of two bowls of soup ,a plate of dal and two butter naans would set you back by almost 500 bucks.Its acceptable as we all know how prices in modern world are sky rocketing.
So,if you are in ludhiana and want to give your taste buds something to cheer about then do pay a visit to this place.Thanks & Rgds
