When Impersonation meets crime.
Impersonation is an activity in which someone that imitates or copies the behavior or actions of another and it is known as impersonator. Impersonators are very famous in entertainment industry. They impersonate celebrities generally for entertainment. But there is a drawback in impersonation that it can be used in crime. This is usually where the criminal is trying to assume the identity of another, in order to commit fraud, such as accessing confidential information, or to gain property not belonging to them.
The 284th Novel of famous Hindi pulp fiction writer, the king of crime-fiction in India illustrates the same impersonation activity which followed the future crime. The Crime-fiction writer at the age of 70 years, one more time portrayed his famous crime-investigation journalist Sunil Kumar Chakravarty in this novel. The same Sunil Kumar Chakravarty was first time portrayed by the writer in his first crime-fiction novel in 1963. Since 1963 to till date, Sh. Surender Mohan Pathak jee had portrayed Sunil Kumar Chakravarty in 120 novels. This is the world record to write the novel by under the same series. Sunil was approached by Ms. Achla Talwar in his blast office with the statement that she has a sensational story for his newspaper. Sunil told her to narrate the story first, and then he will decide and work on that story. According to Ms. Achla Talwar, a woman called Sujata Saxena had been murdered or will be murdered in future. But she does not know who killed her or will kill. These thoughts born in her mind after some events happened with her from last three days. In detailed case, she stated that, a person named Mr. Amrit Sikka approached Ms. Udita Chopra on a daily wages of Rs.5000 for an acting job not in any movie or advertisement but for his personal work. Ms. Udita Chopra agreed to do work for him but if Ms. Achla Talwar; his fast friend will also accompany her. Mr. Amrit Sikka agreed on this point also. Mr. Amrit Sikka take both to a flat where Ms. Udita Chopra to live by using the name of Sujata Saxena.
She also adds that Mr. Amrit Sikka is not harmful for them as he takes both to the dinner in every night. He instructed that if there any phone calls came for Sujata Saxena then tells them that she will call later as she is busy.
Sunil talks with Amrit Sikka about the whole incident and asked to meet Sujata Saxena till Udita and Achla will be out from that flat. Both left the flat when Sujata Saxena not reached in Sunil office on time.
Later, Sujata Saxena met Sunil and stated that Amrit Sikka was working for her and he was appointed to do such setup. She needs this setup to get the divorce from her husband. Sujata Saxena gave a handwritten certificate to Sunil about the impersonation setup.
Same day, After Sujata Saxena left Sunil office, Udita called Sunil and stated that Amrit Sikka was found murdered in her flat where she was playing impersonation. Police came and get the all testimony and both Udita and Achla released. It was found that Amrit Sikka was murder by a Khanjar which is found in his body. But later Achla was arrested in the charge of murder of Amrit Sikka for the money in purse $5000 of Amrit Sikka which was found in the purse of Achla. Udita also arrested in the suspicion to helping hand in this murder.
The Case takes a vital turn when a legmen of Detective agency stated that he found Achla to throw something in dustbin of a restaurant. Police found one Khanjar in dustbin and after forensic it was found that there is some blood spot of Mr. Amrit Sikka on that. It was also found from the forensic that there are fingerprints on the Khanjar which is found in the body.
This novel is full with such lot of twist and turns, thrill and mystery, tricks and investigation. The mastermind Sunil comes in front for the Achla Talwar and Udita Chopra “The Damsels in Distress”. Sunil fight by using the mind with the mystery of 2 Khanjars, with mystery of $5000, with the mystery of Sujata Saxena impersonation, with the mystery of detective’s legman that was behind the Udita Chopra. Sunil found many more suspects for the murder of Amrit Sikka.
I am in love with the novels of Sh. Surender Mohan Pathak Sir and this novel added more sugar in my love. The patragonist Sunil makes this novel full of thrill and fun. The whole novel was written on the average speed, not too fast and too slow. The story revolving around Sunil and his investigation.

1) 2 Khanjar used in murder. But which was real and which was fake?
2) $5000 was in the purse of Amrit Sikka. From Where Amrit Sikka got these heavy amounts.
3) Time factor.
4) The worst efficiency of Police.*
Double game was the latest novel in Sunil series where Pathak Sahab narrate story in the present world. The only change in the novels of 1963 and 2012 is the year. According to changes of the present world, Pathak Sahab changes everything of Rajnagar except the fixed characters like Sunil, Ramakant, Renu, Prabhudayal etc. And the books of Pathak Sahab are still in demand that was in 60’s.
We accept the changes in locality, technology, system, working environments but not want to change the writer. Sir Surender Mohan Pathak sir is the Grand-father (Pitamah) of Pulp-fiction of India. We can’t see this industry, this entertainment industry without Pathak sir.
We are waiting for more and more novels from Pathak sir. We want new novels from Pathak sir with more thrills, more suspense, more adventures and more mystery. We want novels from Pathak sir with the issues or social issues which affects the society at large scale. I know its big demand from Pathak sir but its demand of a fan to his ideal. A writer is the one, who can change the world silently.
