I have been gifted a Dopod D600 for my birthday, yep, some of us do get lucky!

The first thing that strikes you when you open the box is that though its just for 15 grand, you get a whole lot of stuff. The packaging is not compromised with either. good plastics and readable english in the manual for starters.

You get a mains charger, hands free cum stereo headphone set, usb cable, spare stylus(this is what I found surprising - for this price this is a wonderful thing), software cd's and the manuals, warranty and associated paperwork.

The second thing to notice is build quality. The cheapest PDA phone in the market doesnt look cheap. The phone is lightweight, reasonably small, the touchscreen is decent and the finish is far from low end. Its still early days, lets see what it looks like after an year of rough use, but the new phone at least looks really great.

Standard Windows Mobile 5.0 applications and functionality are there. nothing more nothing less. The bundled CD has a golf game which I havent tried yet - but it doesnt sound to exciting. PDA phones should come with puzzle type games in my opinion. the bubble breakout or yahoo puzzle type things - anyway, thats probably a personal rant.

One thing that has driven me nuts(Still havent fixed it) is that while there is a way to view digital certificates installed on the device, there is no "Add" or "Import" button to load the DC. Not in the System>Certificates option - not in any setting under Internet Explorer and not in any setting under Pocket Outlook either - the search goes on.:(

Sound quality is good, screen backlighting is powerful enough to stand up to the afternoon sun without too much of an issue, talk time is decent. I got 4 hours out of a full battery - an hour less than the claimed 5 hours max, but then they also say that once the battery is drained and recharged a few times the performance improves. lets see. I also am tinkering with the setting a lot currently so that may have something to do with it.

Given the price, features and quality. and the awesome looks - I'd give it a thumbs up.:)
