Story:

This is going to be my first book review, but this time I could not really stop myself from writing this one. After reading Harry Potter also I restrained myself from entering this domain, saying "Wait baby, this is not your area.....why don't you be happy with your DP section?" But believe me,after reading this book and following the principle of healthy eating which brought a huge change in me,I would like to share the content of this book which can help people if they follow the tips being less judgmental.

I am not at all a health freak, nor I can stop eating my favorite things. But in her second book,"Don't Lose your Mind,Lose your Weight" the famous nutritionist Rutuja Diwekar discussed few simple yet useful health tips. There is a certain way to read this book. First, you have to cast aside all those numerous diet patterns which come everyday in all sorts of print media. Second, you have to read this book with an unbiased mind. And finally, after reading if you feel like following, you are most welcome, but if you don't get the desired result, don't blame the book. Identify the problem area, then only the problem can be solved. The most important tip is,use your common sense while planning your diet, that's necessary.

Now,let me discuss about the contents of this book. After the introduction about popular beliefs about healthy diet, eating patterns and exercise, the author explained few myths about dieting in the first chapter: What Diet is Not.Here she explained that diet is not a punishment, regular eating habit can keep a person healthy. Extreme diets doesn't work, everything herbal is not always good, exercise and dieting are NOT mutually exclusive,a single diet is not for everyone, and finally the truth about low fat and sugar free alternatives are quite an easy read and enjoyable at the same time. One will wonder, how many wrong beliefs we have about our diet! The author always says, all food are good,if the proportion and timing is appropriate.

The second chapter: How to eat: relearn, the golden rules of eating a healthy meal has been described. The nature of our digestive system, the overeating damages, harmful effect of antacids, basic rules of increased nutrient uptakes and necessity of having a peaceful meal have been discusses, emphasizing regular eating, healthy eating and nutritious consumption of local food. Being calorie conscious is not always good, but it's better to be concerned about the nutrients intake.

In the third chapter, What to eat: Rethink,The author has describes about essential nutrients, their sources, how to get maximum of those from regular food and the quantity one requires according to the body need. She compared high protein vs. low protein dies, right carb intake, explained fat as essential part of diet, and the most important, general belief about Vitamin and mineral consumption. The effects of supplements and maintaining water balance in body has also been described.

The next chapter: The 4 principles of eating rightdescribes the diet rules:

1.Never wake up to tea or coffee,

  1. Eat every 2 hours,

3.Eat more when your are more active and less when you are less active,

  1. Finish your last meal at least 2 hours prior to sleeping.

The fifth chapter: Inculcating awarenessexplains few examples of diet and activity lists from different people and the ideal one for them. Our body needs a regularized lifestyle, healthy diet pattern and proper exercising. We need to concentrate on its well being, but adapting healthy lifestyle.

The last chapter: Crossing the bridge from knowing to doing, the author explaned few healthy lifestyle and motivation tips like,

  1. Wake up closer to sunrise

  2. Eat within 10 minutes of waking up.

3.Within an hour of meal 1,eat a nice home cooked breakfast,

  1. Eat every 2 hours after meal 2,

5.Eat your dinner within 2 hours of sunset,

6.Sleep at fixed time.

She has explained things that pulls one back and things those can help one to stay fit.

I am not going to discuss more,if you wanna know just grab a copy,I bet no one can be disapponted with this book,it has something for everybody!

Now let me explain what I like about the book. Well,it helped me to come out of many beliefs about dieting which are far from the truth. The author explained many critical situation with the help of real life examples, without which the "gyan" would be incomplete. Why should we listen if there is no proof? But she came with many examples and case studies from her personal experience. Many important topics she explained in boxes which got the attention easily. After each and every important topc or chapter the summary is provided, so that super lazy people can go through those and get a gist of the whole matter! Next, she explained the whole thing in an attractive narrative manner,no one can get easily bored with such a narrative style. She added the stories of some of her high profile clients like Kareena Kapoor and Anil Ambani, which is also an interesting read. What attracted me most,is the easy to find food items and easy to follow dieting and lifestyle she described there. Anybody can follow her tips,if motivation is there. Dieting, the word itself sent a shiver down the spine before reading this book. But once I came across this book,I was myself astonished to find how easily I am following those tips. Not all,I should confess........but I can see the obvious changes in me after reading. My fitness level improved a great deal. I am no more that lethargic couch potato who sat and worried about each and everything under the sky! But I feel more healthy,energetic...........the most important one is,I never feel hungry or rush to fridge in search of my comfort food! Thanks Rutuja, you were a great help.

My health conscious friends, I would like to request you all to go through this book. You can find out the solutions of many problems regarding health. I am enjoying being almost a new person after following those tips, hope it helps you all the same way.
