I read Rujuta Diwekars book -dont lose your mind, lose weight. I found some of her inputs to be straight forward -for ex- stick to what you ve eaten as a kid, dont eat your curry in a hurry, dont expect tp lose weight over night etc. and some informative inputs- example- downsides of crash dieting, fad diets etc. While initially I found her writing style to be no nonsense, most of what is in the book is repetitive and full of wise cracks. The entire content could have been written in less than half the volume.
As for her diet tips -most of it is common knowledge, rest is available by surfing the internet. As for my personal opinion about her advise- I do agree with her when she says one needs to get good exercise atleast 3-4 times a wk, eating well and at the right time is again vital. But who the heck carries peanuts and cheese to work? I also dont agree with her give up the tea completely funda, neither do I subscribe to her 6 meals a day regime. Most of us had 3 meals and a half(tea time included) growing up and we did fine. Even a farmer has his breaky, his lunch midday and comes back home to dinner. I dont think he pops in peaniuts in btween his daily grind. I think Ms. Kareena, Anil Ambani had their pockets full of chips and dips growing up . hence snacking is a part of diet and therefore the suggestion of peanuts and cheess. For the rest of us common souls lets use common sense .I got the book from the library but I would want to own it.
