Story:

1) She is one of the many, many, fitness/gym instructors who claim to be a dietitian.

She isn’t qualified to speak about diet and claims to be a nutritionist, dietitian, sports nutritionist, weight loss expert and what have you?

2) I would like to say, `What a cheek! She has some audacity!'.

3) Do you know that a**s per Dietetic bodies across the world including the British Dietetic Association, to be a Dietitian, one has to have done their Bachelors in Dietetics and then a Masters in the same. Does she have these qualifications? NO!

*Isnt it important that a health care provider(eg doctor, dietitian) have the qualifications prescribed by regulatory bodies?

Would you go to a doctor if he didnt have an MBBS degree? No isnt it. Why? Because you know that unless that he has the MBBS degree, he cant possibly give you correct advice on your disease. Same with diet. There are standard educational qualifications needed to be a dietitian. So learn to look for these qualifications.

So whats the point in reading a book on diet(namely diet for weight loss) when the person writing it is not a dietitian? If you have a medical problem and you follow a diet plan from this book written by a non-nutritionist, and then develop problems, who is to blame?

Dieting is a technical and medical topic. Books on diets need to be written by qualified dietitians and cant be written by fitness trainers like this lady. Would you read a book on `how to do eye surgery', written by a dance instructor? No, isnt it. Same with this book.

4) So, there are so many like her, who claim to be a dietitian and get away with it. Its their clients like me and you, who pay a hefty price in terms of their health. Pseudos like her, are in plenty in Mumbai prescribing  diets, that have made people lose their hair and develop kidney stones. A big price to pay to lose weight and all because ppl didnt bother to check to see if the dietitian was a REAL one.

5) Most of the fault is with the media and also with people(like us) who follow blindly whatever the media serves them. They never check the background of the story which the media dishes out. The media said she is a `dietitian’ and everyone believed it.

6) If you visit her educational profile on her OWN website, you would see that she has done her bachelors degree in an entirely non-nutrition field.

If on reading my review, she deletes/edits this info about her bachelors degree from her website, one has to just Google it to find it all over the net.

Imp(7)She claims to have done a `PG' in sports science & nutrition. Which, by the way, is a PG-Diploma of 1 year offered by SNDT and not a Masters course.

Its not a Masters course because: SNDT does not offer a Masters in Sports Science and Nutrition. The courses offered by SNDT are available on the college website, you can look it up.

8) By the way, its interesting to note that when her site was launched, her education section said `PG Diploma in Sports Science and Nutrition from SNDT in 2001'. Now as of 20th Oct 2009, the `diploma' word has vanished and it says `PG in Sports Science and Nutrition from SNDT in 2001'. Cool aint it?

9) Even if she has done a 1 yr PG-Diploma in Nutrition(which is doubtful, seeing her utter lack of nutrition knowledge) it doesn’t qualify her to be a Dietitian. Why? Read point 3.

10) Does she even have some work experience in the `diet’ business?(apart from the fake diet she dished/dishes to that gullible Kapoor lady). NO.

Refer her biodata on her website, there is NO MENTION of any work experience, in any field. Bet she will add some work exp after reading this review. A cooked work experience for sure.

11) There are highly qualified REAL Dietitians in India(people who have Bachelors and Masters degrees and Phds in Nutrition). These are people who have studied Nutrition for over 5-7 yrs.

So pls visit them or read their books. Final choice is yours.
