Change is good. It is the cornerstone of evolution.
DON is better.
Farhan Akhtar takes malice to the next level. The acting, the cinematography, the deviations from the original plot, all make for fantastic viewing.
Shahrukh Khan more than makes up for KANK as the devilish, conceited DON. His body language is impeccable. His swagger is almost careless. He jumps, dives, shoots, bombs at the drop of a hat ably aided by magical cinematography. As Vijay, he has achieved the unthinkable by pulling off the Khaike Paan Banaras Vaala act in great style!
All questions answered, all doubts put to rest, King Khan is back.
The women make their presence felt. Priyanka sizzles in her skimpy/sporty dresses as the intensely desirable Roma. Martial arts in high heels never looked so good. Isha Kopikkar also manages to look good, despite her short role.
Kareena Kapoor as Kamini almost matches up to Helen, the key-word being almost. The new version of the song is catchy with adequate bass and a slight trancy feel in parts.
If Iftikaar were to live to see this day, he would stand up and applaud Boman Irani's portrayal as ACP DeSilva, the twists in the tale notwithstanding.
The only aspect where I felt the film lacked was that the Vijay to DON transition happened too quickly, and one felt that Vijay sould have been given a little more screen time.
The first half is amazing, but the second is mind-blowing! DON is a winner all the way!
Watch it to see Shahrukh sizzle, and show you that he can pull off an Amitabh (maybe even better)!
Farhan Akhtar gives you enough reasons to go to the movies this Diwali with fireworks from his own factory!
