The title says it all. Don is nothing but a average movie. I'm not going to compare the new Don with the old one. I assume that you must have seen the original and would know the story line. There a lots of twists and turns in the latter part of the movie but giving away would ruin the entire movie watching experience. Let me start with the cast - ShahRukh as a Don was awesome, and NEVER compare him with Amitabh because they are miles apart in their portrayal of evil-cunning don. Shahrukh khan as Vijay, the Bihari/Bhaiyya was terrible. I expected a lot from Shahrukh khan but he could not pull that right. The director should have given him a more Tapori/Bombai style in portrayal of vijay. Priyanka chopra was good playing the deceptive roma and for a change looked gorgeous.She was never in my hottest gals list but she made me change my mind in this movie. The reason priyanka was not looking hot in her earlier movies could be because she was given terrible makeup and costumes. Isha gopikar had nothing to do in the movie, not even was given a chance to expose. I felt really sorry for her as this movie could have given her a much needed boost. Arjun ramphal was strictly average, and we cannot demand more from him considering his acting limitations. Boman irani as a cop was very impressive and I should say that I have never seen him act bad in any of his movies. The number two actor I felt sorry was Om puri. Om puri is a terrific actor and he was used as some kind of a junior artist. One person who looked million bucks was Kareena Kapoor. She was there for a song and a couple of minutes. She had a special radiance, maybe its because of the director, her costumes or her makeup, I don't know. The high point of the movie is the background score. Even though it was taken from the original and remade, it sounded like nothing heard before in indian cinema. Cinematography was of international standards and can compete with any hollywood movie. Action was somewhat inspired by hollywood movies, but they looked brilliant, especially all the characters having different style of fighting. Even though Songs were brilliant except Maurya and Kahike track, songs were not needed in a thriller but its a hindi movie and a hindi movie should have it, and we have few songs thrown here and there. Farhan Akhtar has done a fine job but it could have been more better if they had some elements changed in the movie which could have proved to be more thrilling. Don is full of gloss, style and awesome to average performances.
