Par-a-don !!!!!!. Review on Don: The Chase Begins Again

Hi friends....

First.....really really sorry for not being around for a while....but today I take some time due to some reasons which I will mention later to write about this flick "DON".We are all familair with the classic "DON" of big b,sure was a hit of its time......no exception of this todays don.

Having nothing to do this sat me and my friend decided,suddenly to go for a flick.It was already 6.15 so getting ticikets on phone was remotely impossible so we arranged to get tickets from our friend.The movies we got were umrao,jaaneman and don.We voted for don and I inspite of being the hardest critic of srk voted for the lesser evil avalable of the all.We went to PVR in nirmal lifestyles mulund.

We entered 10 mins late and already the first event where don proves he is james bond of india was on and it suddenly appeared to me that srk has some serious throat problems.After some over-smart action and dialogues came the legendry song "Yeh mera dil" then performed by helen (the great) and now by kareena (the female doing male dance).....the movies keeps close to old classic keeping it up with 20th century gadegts like moto-cells , laptops,remote watches and cool costly cars.The characters with old names like "narang","roma","vardhan","malik",""Ka-mi-ni" are a bit clashy.I mean who carry these names today.The movie is complete remake except the end 5 min twist which was a must.

The story :

There is this firangi business man (name forgot)...who has two partners vardhan (boman) and singhania (not know name).Vardhan is betrayed by singhania and all business is taken over.Now singhania has narang and don (srk).The race is to win the business from singhania.Obviously don is more ambitious.It starts with police (both indian and interpol) chasing against don.The DSP malik chases and corners don takes to hospital.He finds a look alike by name "vijay" who is a band man in mumbai and looking after an orphan kid named deepu.Malik offers vijay a deal to replace don and help him crack the case an bring all criminals to bar.Vijay agrees to becomes don and do the required in exchange of malik looking after deepu .Meanwhile don has killed a associate who was brother of roma (priyanka) and fiancee of ka-mi-ni (kareena).Roam revenges the death of her bro and to be sis-in-law.Unknown that the new don is Vijay she is enlightened by malik.So it happens that vijay does his job and provides the disk of info of don and his gang to malik.There is this man (arjun rampal),father of deepu a softwre engineer,who is by some unknown person forced to rob jewels,gets arrested by malik an thrown to prison.He is of belief that his wife and kid is dead and person responsible of this is malik.So he revenges malik.Malik is actually vardhan the long ago dissapeared enemy of singhania.It so happens like all ends tie up and vijay fights with malik an proves that he is not real don.

Just like the old movie its the same stuff.The red diary is replaced by a compact disk.The reason I am not focusing on detailed story is that firstly its a remake and secondly I have more intresting things to point out.

The analysis :

What didnt work

1. The movie is overly stretched for no reason.

   
   




2. Kareena has terribly flunked in song "yeh mera dil".I mean the dance is more of a tribal dance than cabret.

   
   




3. Priyanka is completely sided she has no use in new movie unlike the old where zeenat has a motive and till end tries to revenge don,priyanka just falls in love with

4. Lastly the track "khaike paan banaras wala" which was and is a hip shaker even today is clearly crapped in new version.There was no use doing surgery on such a masterpiece........ didnt work !!!!

   
   

What really worked

1. The grafics and action was good (even though it looked like a japanese close karate movie action,blended with xxx air stunt and con-air concept)

   
   




2. The movie had its own style owing to its big budget.Music was fabulous an special FX were appreciable.

   
   




3. SRK selled the flick by his unique style and powerful acting too (sometimes).

   
   

ALL n ALL

Worth a watch for the legend remade...justice made by farhan to some extent and SRK should stop making chimpanzee faces which he did too often in the present flick.........watch in a good movie house.I did in PVR went heavy on pocket 120 a head but the experience was worth it.........
