Can you get a more exciting film than this one for the year 2006! With the releases so far and the releases to come yet, Don should be the biggest one as far as hype goes. A remake of the yesteryear classic Amitabh Bachchan starrer, and that too replacing Amitabh the Superstar is the current megastar Shahrukh Khan! Kareena in Helen's role, Priyanka in Zeenat's role, the remix of Khaike Paan and Yeh Mera Dil songs, etc. Cant get bigger than this!!! Ok, before you guys start squirming on your seats, let me get down to the review of the songs.
- Main Hoon Don - Shaan
FANTASTIC START TO THE ALBUM! Farhan and Shankar Ehsaan Loy hit the first ball for a huge 12 runs!!! Thats a double sixer!!! I somehow get the feel that Shankar Ehsaan Loy has taken the BGM of the original Don and has used it for the remake and in this song. Because the start and that tune reminds me a lot of the original Don. The music is highly western in feel and is really foot tapping. Shaan is mind blowing in this song. He is jumping up the top charts with hits like Chand Sifarish and Main Hoon Don. I heard somewhere that this song would take time to get used to. But this was a super-hit with me from the time I listened to it first (probably because I watched the trailer where a part of this song was played).
- Aaj Ki Raat - Alisha Chinoy, Mahalaxmi & Sonu Nigam
Second one is no great shakes! A good song but will surely take lot of time getting used to. Or could totally be forgotten since the album has other earth shattering songs (more on that coming up!). A decent song. Didnt listen to it much because it didnt appeal to me much.
- Yeh Mera Dil - Sunidhi Chauhan
Should fit Kareena to a T. Sunidhi Chauhan modulates her voice so superbly that the voice reminds us of Kareena Kapoor so much. After Shreya Goshal-Aishwarya Rai, this is a stunning combination! Sunidhi is for Kareena. This song is a remix of the older version and has been done in extremely likeable fashion. With my hottie Kareena dancing to it, I am sure this song has the ability to set the screen on fire. I dont care what anti-Kareena people say, but Kareena's screen presence is going to rock this song! Sunidhi is the hero of this song! She deserves applause!
- Maurya Re - Shankar Mahadevan
Before listening to this album, I saw the latest trailer of Don and saw this song along with it. I saw SRK enthusiastically dancing to this song in front of the Ganesha statue. Then after listening to it, this song was likeable to me on the first go itself. It wasnt of the lovable kind like Main Hoon Don or Yeh Mera Dil, but a likeable one on the first listen itself. As you hear it more, you wil start loving it and I am sure I will love this song when it comes on screen!
- Don Theme Instrumental
This one is a Theme version which is purely for the CD, I think! This one sounds really trendy and westernised. Has the same tune that the Main Hoon Don song has, but sounds really good. Shankar Ehsaan Loy have done a really cool job on this one.
- Don Revisited
Nothing special in this one! Somewhat similar to the theme, dont know why its named 'Don revisited'. But can give it a skip if you like to!
- Main Hoon Don Remix
A remix version of the title song. In fact, I feel the original title version is much better! Lot of instruments in this one. I can skip this one too coz its not that great!
- KHAIKE PAAN BANARASWALA
I HAVE SAVED THE BEST ONE FOR THE END! I literally love the original version. To say that Kishore Kumar was brilliant in the original version was an understatement, but Udit Narayanan really lives up to it here for this remixed version. Definitely cant compare him to Kishore Kumar who was reportedly a genuis (I havent heard much of his, apart from some which were superb). But this song is the BEST ONE OF THE ALBUM! Those who loved the original will be expecting this one eagerly. I should say Shankar Ehsaan Loy has mixed it pretty beautifiully. Shahrukh's voice in between is decent, but Udit is the hero! Udit has always been Shahrukh's voice and here he further enhances that saying! People are going to have a ball when this song comes on screen! An instant blockbuster of a song!

What are you guys waiting for? GO 'N BUY THIS ALBUM! These days, we get really good albums and that too at consistent basis. Don is one among the really good albums!
