A poor man's mobile service ? I prefer calling it what it really is MTNL's Mobile service !!! The quality of service what we have come to expect from MTNL land lines is a bit improved.
The signal strength and coverage is a grey area which they have to work on. suburban trains, interior building areas (unless you are close to an MTNL exchange) and the signal strength drops dramatically.
The pulse rate of 30 seconds is a boon for a lot of calls.
the helpdesk works from 9-5 every Monday-Friday only !
One more area they need to build on is that currently YOU CANNOT SEND SMS messages from a Dolphin cell in Mumbai to a Non-Dolphin Cell outside Mumbai !! Now this is a big, Big, BIG drawback PLUS they have no email gateway unlike other providers. So you cannot ''email'' an SMS message to a Dolphin number.
PLUS points are systematic billing (unlike unexplainable charges in other provider bills), prompt action from helpdesk (whenever it is on) and I definately see an effort from the provider to improve services.
