Docoss X1 has managed to create a buzz on the internet as the inexpensive Android phone for Rs. 888. A price that puts even the budget phones to shame. The bookings for this phone started today, and apparently there was such a huge demand that the site crashed. The X1 can be booked through the website or a hotline number via SMS, ends on April 29, 10 pm. There is also an option for cash on delivery. The handsets will be delivered, starting from May 2.

Powered by a 1.3 GHz dual-core chipset, the device is said to come equipped with a 4-inch display, 1GB RAM, 2MP rear camera, 0.2MP front camera and 4GB internal storage with an expandable 32GB MicroSD slot. It will also have a Dual SIM slot, 3G connectivity and 1300 mAh battery.

Does that ring(ing) bells? To me, it sounds too good to be true. Ringing Bells pulled off a similar gimmick with Freedom 251 except that their handsets were supposed to be delivered from June. They promised to "Make in India", a reason also cited for the remarkably low price. But later it came to light that they had used Chinese company'Adcom' handsets for the promotion. The company threatened to sue Ringing Bells.

Just like Ringing Bells, Docoss is also a never-heard-of brand. When you search for'Docoss' in Google, all you see are articles regarding the X1 and the docoss website. The company's'About us' page is broken. Its Twitter handle has only 17 followers and claims to be located in Jaipur. As per PhoneRadar, the website domain has been registered two months ago with no information of the owner. The lack of information on the makers of Docoss X1 makes it shady.

Think twice before you place an order. This may be another Freedom251-like scam.
