Diya aut baati hum is an Indian television soap opera on the Star Plus channel. It started airing on 29 August 2011 and airs Monday through Sunday at 9 pm IST. It stars Anas Rashid and Deepika Singh in lead roles. The story is the journey of a modern young woman who has to find a way to her dreams and who unexpectedly finds a constant companion in the person she least expected it from — her traditional husband and his family.Sandhya's(Deepika Singh) life since she was a young college-going girl to the time she was forced into marriage following her parents' death to her struggles to find acceptance in a traditional Rajasthani family, to motherhood and most significantly her journey to become an IPS officer as she had always desired and the many challenges of her chosen profession. Her constant supporter has been her husband Sooraj Rathi(Anas Rashid) who has stood by her even when it has threatened to alienate him from his family. He is the favourite child of his mother Santosh Rathi(Neelu Vaghela) but it has not stopped him from standing up to his mother whenever he has felt she is in the wrong. Similarly Santosh or Bhabho, as she is known to all, has never minced words especially when it comes to her daughters-in-law. At the beginning of the series, Bhabho is Sandhya's biggest opponent but over the years has come to become her biggest supporter. Rajkumar had came back to take revenge from Sandhya, after soo many dramas sandhya becomes a police officer
The show has lost all meaning after Sandhya became a police officer, it has fallen from an average show to a show that drags the hell out of itself. The characters are useless, the themes are useless, the actors can't act, it is a waste of airing time and the amount of time that someone monologues is plain retardation. The story in itself is predictable and can literally end in the most clichéd way possible. Don't get me started on the crappy repetitive soundtrack. At least show a diverse atmosphere instead of a dead one. All this show is good for is keeping a dead horse living through lame story lines. What's even worse is the amount of times they transition to other characters, having characters frozen in one shot is bloody ridiculous. It is like as if they had lost their budget to afford other expressions.
