Picnic to DIveagar,Sri Vardhan and Harihareshwar. Review on Diveagar

My trip in November 2008 to Dive Agar-Sri Vardhan-HariHareshwar was memorable. We went on Saturday morning and returned back on Monday evening. Dive agar is the shortest Sea shore destination from Pune. The distance of Dive Agar is 165KM from Pune. The travel from Pune is via Mulshi, Tamhini Ghat, Mangaon, Mhasala, Borli and Dive Agar. Pune to Mulshi road is good.Tamhini ghat is scenic in monsoon and road condition is not very good. From Tamhini to Mangaon road is so-so. The road from Mangaon to Dive Agar is good and by car it’s a fun to drive on Red soil roads. The total journey time from Pune to Dive Agar is four & half hour’s journey. Dive Agar is a calm place with beautiful beach of 4-5 KM long and white sand. The sea shore at Dive Agar is very scenic and wonderful Sun Set view. It’s a pleasure to have a walk in the morning on such a calm sea shore.

There are lots of homely accommodations available in budget prizes. There are two lanes where you will see lots of wadi (A house with coconut plantation and well is called Wadi) type of accommodations and they prepare food with veg and non veg, fish options. You can not get food immediately like a restaurant but you have to tell in advance. The fish surmai/pomphret are very fresh and Konkani preparation is very tasty. They also prepare special ‘UKADICHE MODAK’ on demand. We stayed in a beautiful modern type of wadi accommodation with lots of coconut –supari trees on the back and rooms with attached toilets. The accommodation was clean and well maintained. The charges were Rs. 600/- for a double bed and Rs. 100/- for extra bed. There are few other places to see in Dive Agar

You can have over night stay at Dive Agar and next day plan to visit Sri Vardhan and Harihareshwar which are at hours travel from Dive Agar. The total distance from Dive Agar to Harihareshwar via Sri Vardhan is 40 KM. A nice coastal drive and beautiful sandy beach on one side of the road. Srivardhan is a birthplace of Balaji VIshwanath Peshwe and a scenic place with thick coconut trees every where. The beach is 3 KM in length and clean one. You can get good homely accommodation and food at Srivardhan. Other than beach following are the places to see at Srivardhan.

After spending 2 hours in Srivardhan we started for Harihareshwar and reached there within 40 minutes. Road is red soil and sharp turns so fun to drive. A beautiful Harihareshwar temple on sea shore and hills on all the side is specialty of this beach. The beach is rocky and mighty waves. A nice spot to have fun at sea shore and camel rides for children. The MTDC resort is very nice to stay and you have a boating facility from there. After spending a day we started back to Dive Agar at 5 PM. The return journey is a ghat road and short distance as it is not via srivardhan. The return journey is 28 KM via Borli. Please travel this journey in day light as road is with turns and slopes. The fish market at Borli is very good and you can have good deals to buy dry prawns and other fish varieties. Evening in Konkani villages are calm and roads are not noisy. This is very natural place and not commercialized like Goa. Next day was Monday and almost no crowd on the beach so a very cool morning walk and play at the beach. In the afternoon after having lunch we started back to Pune.
