The only thing that I knew about District 9 before watching it was that it has Peter Jackson associated with it that was a good enough reason for me to watch district 9 because I am a huge fan of The Lord of The Rings Trilogy but after watching District 9 and after I imdb’d the movie I found out that it’s an Neill Blomkamp classic
The movie starts with interviews and random shots it kind of reminded me of clover field , quarantine but it picks up quite nicely and towards the end had me hooked on
The story goes as such …. In 1990, a massive star ship bearing a bedraggled alien population, nicknamed "The Prawns, " by the local south Africans appeared over Johannesburg, South Africa. 20 years later, the initial welcome by the human population has faded. The refugee camp where the aliens were located has deteriorated into a militarized ghetto called District 9, where they are confined and exploited in squalor. In 2010, the munitions corporation, Multi-National United, is contracted to forcibly evict the population with operative Wikus van der Merwe in charge. In this operation, Wikus is exposed to a strange alien chemical and must rely on the help of his only two new 'Prawn' friends
The movie is a mix of documentary slash action slash sci fi style of pure funtertainment The special fx’s are top knotch and the editing is also quite neat , I really lijked the whole concept of alines living among humans , the whole concept of the aliens living in the slums of Johannesburg and that the Nigerians trade cat food with the aliens for alien weaponry did appeal to me a lot
The acting by Wikus van der Merwe was top knotch
Please watch District 9 , it’s a different experience that needs to be experienced
