I have been using two dsl connections (usb) for over a year now and the service
has improved over time.
The 512 k offered is possibly the best in the industry. The initial sales process
was a bit murky but I got them to their knees during the renewal.
If you are using your own mail server, you could be in trouble as their ip
addresses are heavily blacklisted and your mails would not get delivered.
The mail service is pathetic and I have never tried to use them for business.
There are no linux drivers available for the usb modem. Go for a good firewall
like zonealarm.
The router connection is better (though expensive) as one can use the
compex wireless / network / WiFi switch to provide trouble free access for
your whole office.
A couple of my clients use Dsl to host their extranets, which is accessed by
their branches throughout the country.
Had evaluated other service providers such as Bsnl (Dias) and asianet dataline.
Ever since Vsnl took over the company, things have changed. They no longer
offer Sunday helpdesk and the line invariably is down during the weekends.
The service levels are down and the billing is erratic. I am praying for the
second service provider to come to my city. The guys sitting at support lie
all the time.
