DishnetDSL, ISP eshtablished in 1998, with the vision of starting the DSL technology in India, when MTNL were approched for providing their copper terminations to retail and home segment they laughed at the idea and talked about the govenment annexxe of not allowing copper laid for DSL purpose
Who dreamt of internet connection on the same copper line without to have pay for the DOT charges, well dishnetcame up with a beautiful technology explained below.
Lets take example of DishnetDSL(ddsl) Mumbai , ddsl has colocated 84 DSLAM's(DSL access multiplier) all over mumbai which is connected to RBOX and in turn to ERX at Mumbai NAP all these DSLAM's have 96 ports each which is connected to various customers through overhead copper, DSLAM is connected to RBOX through E1's from MTNL fibre optic backbone Mumbai ddsl team has direct sales team to garner connection, F.E (field engineer) team to provide connection, Billing department, 247 customer care center and 247 NAP(Network access point) team to monitor and manage the DSLAM's all over Mumbai
Further to the infrastructure lets talk about the latest offering of 512 Edge plan which says Max of 512 Kbps at any point of time, though it is understandable that 512 at any given point of time is not possible as these dslams are connected by one E1 to the RBOX, so 2 Mbps of bandwidth is shared by 40-45 users on one DSLAM though the capacity is 96 ports.. so there is possibility of not getting 512 Kbps all the time but atleast 250 Kbps on best effort basis at the price of 55,000 per annum... then what to grumble who can offer this service at this price
DSL has around 30,000 customers all over Mumbai, Company like VSNL was in the row to acquire such huge database of DSL users which was just a dream for some to start in India .DishnetDSL has paved a way to the realisation of dream of a Korea in India...
