A recent RVU on Dishnet DSL reminded me of one of my experiences with DISHNET. It was few months back when I was looking for a faster internet connection for residence of one our Sr. Executives. I came across some advertisements of DISHNET and decided to call their marketing and technical person to know about the connection and the pricing part.


While the person was confident in giving the details of the pricing part but the way he tried to explain the technical aspects and the connection layout, it seemed as if we were not talking about DSL but something else which he was about to discover during that conversation itself. So to be sure about the details we went into one of DSL distribution centers better known as DSLAM. I was impressed by the speed of the connection available there.


With very less time given to complete the job, I could not compare the connection with any other vendor?s connection and finally had to take this connection. DISHNET straight away tells you that after filling all the application forms they need 14 days to give the connection. Looked as if they have to lay a connection from some other city.


Lot of negotiations/persuasion helped and I could get my connection through in seven days. But I saw some shocking things in their setup?one they have a policy of not providing any information on the progress of a job which is being done for you, and the excuse given is plain n simple that even they don?t have any information about their service engineers. I could not understand which age they belong to? a communication age or something else?.


You will come to know about the connection only when the cable lands into your premises. At last I could see a good speed internet ?.. but story had just started?.


Two months it was ok? connection worked well.. I got the bills and I paid them on time. End of third month and I enquired about why I have not recd the bill?. After one week I am told that my connection is disconnected as I have not paid the bill?again a lot of follow ups/firing/pressure ? and I could get my connection through.


Problem is the way they boast about themselves of being the pioneer in bringing the technology but they don?t understand that if technology is good it will survive of its own but if they have to survive, they need to be good in selling the technology and provide a prompt and good service?..
