Jokes apart, I was reading the reviews about Dishnet DSL by other members. I have been using the above said DSL services for about 20 months now. I have found it satisfactory most of the time. For a person who used to be paying a phone bill of 6000 plus, I switched over to DSL when they came out with a new scheme of an initial deposit of 6 or 7k as opposed to their 30k scheme.
I had referred a few friends as well to the same. One friend found himself to be having problems every other day, but I wasn?t having problems to the magnitude of what he was saying. I get connected immediately on execution of their connection and for the past year or so I have had very little down time, expect when trucks and other vehicles have knocked down their cables. It happened recently too, near my house and the staff was on site immediately and righted the problem working overtime.
Yeah I do have some grouses like the customer care people sometimes don?t know what they are talking about and spout nonsense making me lose my temper. And like one of the guys said, the email services are highly unreliable. I rarely use the id I have with this connection. I still retain my satyam id. And the download limit they have is a big pain in the neck. You got to be careful about downloads and your traffic, given the 512K speed of the connection, one will tend to browse more; thereby increasing the traffic.
They have this nifty feature of reducing your speed to 64K ? called bandwidth on demand on their site. Even at 64 K you got to be careful. Given all my rants and screaming over the phone I still must commend customer care. They have sub let their collections to other agencies and in case those people are late or if I am unable to pay by the due date, a simple call to customer care will do and your connection will not be barred. Generally I would rate their customer care in Cochin ? 8 out of 10.
The pricing is cool now. I was on a special package of 995 for 400 mb and I used to be paying an average of 1500 per month. Now I have been able to migrate to another plan for which I get 1GB for the same price and extra usage is billed on a slab of 1 MB each. This is really useful for me, a person who is an avid user of Limewire, Kaaza, a addicted blogger and what not.
The initial payment too has come down since VSNL has taken over- to Rs. 2500. The support I have received from the technical staff is also outstanding. I have somebody coming in within a couple of hours of registering a complaint. Downtime now is extremely rare and so is getting disconnected during a session. Yeah I have had problems with the same during the initial couple of months but all of that seem to have disappeared now.
I must add that I have faced some of the problems which the others have faced as mentioned in this site, but none of them were like as has been described here and I have had them attended to promptly. Perhaps once I had to face an extended downtime, for which the staff were in touch with me etc.
I don?t know mine is a isolated case of a extremely satisfied customer or if it is the cochin center that is doing an excellent job as compared to other centers. The staff and management of the cochin center have my full marks and kudos for their good service. I have no hesitation in recommending Dishnet DSL or VSNL as its called now to anyone. At least in cochin!
