Moved from Tata Sky plus to Dish TV primarily due to the number of HD channels. Big mistake. Here are the issues:
1) HD recorder provided by Dish does not come with any memory. You will spend big bucks buying an external HD/storage device. If you record HD, you will need a large memory
2) you can watch or record only one program at a time. Unlike Tata Sky, you cannot watch a channel while recording another one.
3) you cannot record recurring programs on Dish TV The feature does not work( confirmed by customer service) . Even if you watch a program everyday at the same time, you need to setup the recorder manually
4) Extremely frustrating menus in the Dish tv. no easy way to navigate channels. In fact, if you go to movies in the menu, it skips the movies on HD and just shows the one on the regular channels!
5) unfriendly and completely incompetent customer service. prepare to bang your head on the wall if you need to deal with them
