I have been reading lot of reviews on Mouthshut about Dish TV and realized my state is not much different from the many unhappy consumers.
I probably could write a HUGE review cursing Dish folks just to vent out my frustration but I do not see a point in doing that as its going to make me angrier. So I would let you guys decide whether you think you need Dish TV! Here is my experience
I bought Dish TV through the Big Bazaar offer at Koramangala, Bangalore. I was told someone would come and install the equipment in 5 business days. No one has either called me or shown up till date(It is 10 days now). I called customer care at least five times. These calls are really expensive as I do not have BSNL and have to call their Chennai number which I realized gets diverted to Noida call center. My experience on the two initial calls is below
Call Number 1: It took 10 minutes for the line to get connected to a customer rep. I had to keep hearing the same horrible Advertisement(thoda aur wish karo – Dish karo). Finally a male voce picks the phone, says hello and for some reason doesn’t say anything after that! I can hear lot of background noise and people laughing, chatting etc.
After a couple of minutes he asks me how he could help. I explain my problem to him and he asks for a VC number. As I am a first time user, I did not have any idea what that is. He tells me, it is ON the box, which it was not. I realized I have a booklet with the box and that has a VC number. I gave that to him and then he seeks my address. This was the REAL tough part. I understand that he is based in Noida and hence might not know how to spell Koramangala but this guy goes one step forward and asks me to SPELL Bangalore for him! I had to use (local) phonetics to spell out Bangalore for him (B – boy, A- Amar etc as B for Beta and A for Alpha just didn’t register to him). I am zapped by now as I realize I am into a blackhole of ignorance!
Finally he has all my details (30 minutes have passed now on a STD call). Then he tells me that I need to contact local dealer to have this installed. He tells me he cannot find any local dealer in my area! I am fed up by now and I ask him to give me ANY dealer in Bangalore. He puts me on hold and never returns! I finally have to keep as it’s costing me a lot.
Call Number 2:Same procedure as before to reach a rep. This time it’s a lady. She asks me the same questions but knows the spelling for Bangalore(lucky me!). I explain my problem again; she puts me on hold at least 3 timesand tries to give me another dealers number which I refuse to take as I had tried calling dealer earlier and he flatly refused to do the installation as I had bought the equipment directly from DISH TV. Finally she gives me a complaint number and says that someone would call me between 4 hours to 24 hours. I haven’t got any call yet as I forgot to ask her 4 hours to 24 hours from when!
After this I tried to make a few subsequent calls with no luck as it takes a lot of time to reach the call center.
I even wrote to the dish customer care and they requested the same info again! I provided this again (I remember this by heart Now!). I have not heard from anyone after this!
If anyone thinks they still need to take a risk and buy Dish then wish karo that they do not treat you the same way. Best of luck! You should be a real optimist to but this junk box.
