Dish TV - No problems yet. Review on Dish TV

I live in Mumbai(giving this information coz it looks like the product service seems to vary from place to place)

I hope this review helps someone else, as much as all the other reviews in MouthShut have helped me take a decision on which DTH to buy.

After a lot of reviews on Dish and TataSky, I finally chose to go for Dish TV. One main reason being Tamil channels. My mother absolutely requires her daily dose of Tamil serials/ movies/ sermons etc. My cable guy never was as troublesome as some reviews have written about theirs. But off late, either to pressurise us to shift to set up box or due to genuine constraints, he periodically stopped some tamil channel or other.and he kept changing all channels at his end, so that I had to keep tuning my TV over and over again.

Once I decided to go for Dish TV/ Tata Sky, I evaluated all the parameters plus I read a lot of reviews. Finally decided on Dish TV, sicne my cousins have it at their place and confirmed that it has good quality, minimal down time and so far have faced no problems with service. It was cheaper than Tata Sky too:). I got Dish TV at Rs. 4990 for one year with set top box. Had to pay Rs. 225 for installation, extra and plus some charge for the cable length too(The installation charge has not been  mentioned anywhere on the site or phone call with them.dealer told me on buying the product)

When I  called Dish TV customer care, I got through quickly and the

lady gave me all dealer names around my area. She also kept following

up with information on the existing deals and the best value added

deals.

I purchased Dish TV from a dealer where I get my other electronic equipment from. So he knows us well and is unlikely to mislead us. According to him both Dish TV and Tata sky were equal in many respects except that Dish TV had more Tamil channels. Going forward he expects the customer service of both these providers to improve. He did accept that Tata Sky responded faster to queries and Dish TV was a little weak in that respect. He denied either of them giving any techncial problem with the hardware.

I bought the set up box on Saturday and by Monday evening the Dish TV guys had installed at my place. I dont want to elaborate on quality since all reviews make it clear that the digital quality is good. I am exceptionally happy that the cartoon channels are in English:). Also glad that mom has many more tamil channels to watch(though Jaya TV is missing).

One week and I havent faced any problem yet. Will keep you posted on my further experiences with Dish
