I moved to DishTV from a leading DTH operator for a few regional channels. This is what my experience is:
STB: Obsolete technology - MPEG2
Remote: Cheap plastic. Press button once to change channel, nothing happens. Press again, it will jump 2-3 channels. Happens regularly. I know how to use Remote, I have used other provider's remote for 5 years.
Interface:
# Initially takes 2-3 minutes to startup. Till then you wait in front of a blank screen. SOmetimes even wonder, if you at all switched on the TV.
# Poor quality application. Cheap look and operation. Due to mal-functioning remote, if you happen to press a channel number, that does not exists, it will take you to Advertisment channel(Earning from sponsors is top most priority)
# Suppressed Audio. My 4 years old Sony mobile would sound better.
Hidden Charges - You will be charged if you downgrade your base pack, ever heard of this?
Service - Worst in class.
# I booked my STB, after finding one particular package suits my requirement. After activation it worked fine for 4 days. After 4 days, all of a sudden few channels are gone. When contacted Customer service, they said, the package you are looking for does not exists and has been discontinued. The web page does not have any such info(I have got screenshots). So, the product was sold by misrepresentation of existing/discontinued package.
# I had escalated this to Nodal and Customer Care team, but nobody bothered to call me and clarify that. Only excuse they have that, my Cell number is registered in DNC. But while booking STB online, I provided my contact number and within 2 minutes, I got a call from DishTV, wasn't my Cell registered in DNC by then?
# Uneducated and ill behaved customer care executives.
# The moment you recharge any amount, your account balance will be zero. So, even if you wish to activate some other pack in lieu of days, you cannot do that.
It is only good for those, who move from cable TV. I am so frustrated in just 1.5 months, should never had moved to Dish TV. It was surely a WRONG CHOICE.
I am really eager to say to Sharukh that: "Dish sawar hua tha, par 4 din mein utar gaya".
