The film 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge' was Aditya Chopra's directorial debut.His father's company Yash Raj Films generally makes romantic films.DDLJ too was a love story but a somewhat anglicised one with very pop-bharatiya values thrown in.It was however a very well made and watchable film.
The story runs like this.Simran is the daughter of a small-time shopowner in London.In the course of an european trip she meets Raj.Simran is traditional and is supposed to marry in india soon.Raj is rich and consciously spoilt.However opposites attract.Raj and Simran fall for each other.
Simran comes to india to marry.Raj follows and without Simran's father's knowledge gets into the marriage activity.
How Raj and Simran unite is the rest of the film.
Some great cinematic moments have been created in the scenes between Raj-Simran.The music by Jatin-Lalit is hummable.
The stars are Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol supported by Amrish and Farida Jalal.
