Story:

I am presently recovering from a bout of riotous laughter. I have just completed one more of Scott Adams' books and I feel elevated.

Why so , let me try to explain:

The Characters: DILBERT : A shy timid sort of engineer, your everyday sort of chap. Look at any 30 year old engineer and he may have certain traits that can link him to Dilbert. A victim to the eccentricites of his stupid, inane and sometimes sadistic BOSS, who is......

very simply.. THE BOSS: He was not born mean and sadistic.. he worked hard to develop this 'admirable' traits... well known for his low( or non existant) respect for his employees, and has not met his match among humans, there is none to beat him except the not-so-cute and -cuddly.....

DOGBERT : Not exactly man's best friend, this creature was adopted by dear ol' Dilbert and shares many of his owner's qualities including the freedom of speech which he takes to its extremities.... the cat did not get his tongue... he typically is surrounded by other office utilities such as furniture, paintings and...

ALICE, WALLY, ASOK, etc..

Wally is a colleague of Dilbert's and has found his niche in life, in this company. He does not work and does not pretend to care about his company and has zero loyalties to anyone...

Alice : unfortunate enough to be the only feamle member in Dilbert's department , she is always overworked( Surprised??), and more coffee flows through her veins than blood...

These mixture of characters are sadistically ruled by two unholy satan spawned creatures...

CATBERT AND RATBERT :

Catbert: your typical cat.. seems to care but in reality could not be bothered whether you live or die, as long as it gets it's food for the day...

Ratbert: wants to be loved , but unfortunately born into a species that cannot be loved, only swatted by brooms and poisoned.

Now the contents themselves: I could go on and on and on about this book, but all I can say is:

you have to read it to beleive it!!!

If you have ever been in the unfortunate position of having a boss, you will appreciate the analogies, the truth and the essence of reality that this book expresses.

From talking about managers as a species, to projects, budgets, Corporate consultants, Management fundas, and hiring and firing., this book tears apart the corporate fabric and reveals the true( well almost true, in real life the HR manager would not be a cat, maybe just look like one!!!) motives behind the workings of large corporations as it is understood by a ground up situation!!!

The strange thing is, much of what is expreseend in the book is something that we can relate to as engineers, and how we perceive the things that go around us.

To go any further would be to spoil the book for those who have not read it... all I will venture to say to such people is.. go read this book.. well if you are not a manager that is...

All in all a great read!
