ANOTHER SUPERHIT MUSIC BY

Another Yash Chopra album and one can be sure off great music. And without his favourite Shiv-Hari he churns out gems with lesser-known Uttam Singh. The music is quite akin to Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The common denominators being, Lata Mangeshkar, the love theme, and the ever brilliant Udit Narayan.

The album has ten songs and all of them are classics. The title track ‘Dil To Pagal Hain’ opens the album. A lovely track rendered very well by Udit and Lata. A lovely beginning.

Next is another winner. ‘Are Re Are’ is about the best track in the album. It has two versions, sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Udit Narayan, this song is very upbeat and extremely catchy. The arrangements by Uttam Singh are similar in all the songs but sounds extremely nice and pleasing.

‘Bholi Si Surat’ is guitar and dhol - oriented. The tempo is medium and the song is fabulous. This should rate as one of Udit Narayan’rs best songs ever. ‘Dholna’ is a pleasant track with a tempo that’s foot-tapping, the dominant percussion instrument is the dhol. Hummable. The mood is romantic- but that would not be a distinguishing factor since all the songs cater to that sentiment!

‘The Dance of Envy’ is a medley of tunes that cover the fast as well as the slow poles of tempo.

‘Pyar Kar’ and ‘Koi Ladki Hai’ are both, very upbeat, very Yash Chopra. Every song is full of mush, reiterating the theme of the film.

‘Ek Duje Ke Vaaste’ is the musical equivalent of a dream sequence. Basically, slow in tempo where the violin dominates the background score.

‘Le Gayi’ is a good number. Foot tapping and one that featured in the top ten in the music charts; this is a track extremely well sung by Asha Bhosle.

In conclusion, an absolute must-buy.
