Where should I start with the review of this movie? There are soo many great parts of it, that I'm not even sure where I should start.
MANI RATNAM has done a superb job on directing this movie, because of a number of reasons..one of them being....
THE CINEMATOGRAPHY of the movie is truly something different in Hindi cinema that I have not seen for a very long time. Dil Se was released in 1998, but the cinematography (film effects) of the movie looked as if the movie was released in sometime between 2000 - 2002 (I'm writing this review in 2005). The Cinematography in this movie is really unique!
SHAHRUKH KHAN's acting in this movie once again needs to be recognized. Ever since Shahrukh has started is career in hindi cinema, there has been a long period of time where is seems where he has done the same types of roles starting from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. But in Dil Se, his acting, and style is much different from what you are use to. When he feels angry, you get angry with him, when he feels hurt, you feel sorry for him, and when you see his blood-shot red eyes, you feel pain with him. Although he did not get best actor for the movie, if I could I would have hands down!
THE MUSIC of Dil Se really makes you move. Chayia Chayia is a world hit song..you go up to any Indian, or any person who watches hindi movie, they will know the song. Why? Becuase one of the worlds best musicians made it. A.R. RAHMAN has done excellent job directing the songs. The computer generated music gives the music a touch that songs hadent had before. Dil Se Re, makes you want to move just like in the video, Satrangi Re makes you sing the lyrics of the song as loud as you can, and Chayia chayia makes you dance till' drop tired. .
THE ACTION of the movie, is great. Not like average Hindi movie, this is like Hollywood. No fighting noises, very realistic...and again with the cinematography, it makes the action look better per every scene of the movie.
SONG COEGRAPHY...one other reason why the songs are so amazing, is becuase of the cinematics of the video. ESPECIALLY in Dil Se Re, and SATRANGI RE. I just had to put that in!
So there's my review of the movie Dil Se...from all that you still don't know what I'm trying to say..I'm saying that Dil Se is an amazing movie, with amazing music, and amazing cinematography, with amazing actors. The movie blends in with all those things. And for people who didnt like the movie, it is probably because they are half blind and half tone deaf to not realize the quality of the movie.
