Trust me, by the time this movie is over, you?ll be saying..Yeh Dil Maange NO More. These kinds of movies are usually pegged as ?time-pass? for the teeny-bopper crowd. Then pray..why was I not able to enjoy the movie? Heck..I was a teeny bopper not too long ago, I can leave my brain behind when I go to the movies and I have plenty of time to pass. In spite of all that I found this movie pretty difficult to digest.

The main reason I watched the movie in the first place was because of the comfort of The PVR cinemas and the fact that someone else was paying for my ticket. Now that being said, let?s take a look at what the fuss is all about shall we?? Yeh Dil Maange More, starring Shahid Kapoor and three OTHER heroines. Knyuk..knyuk..get the subtle humor?? Three OTHER heroines. Man am I funny?? Anyway lets get to the story..

The Story:

Shahid Kapoor is a small town happy go lucky kid, who is much too besotted with his girlfriend-Soha Ali Khan and his beautiful hometown Saharanpur. He loves playing football and picking up Starwberries for his sweetheart whenever he is late for a date. In short everything is just perfect in his lovely little world. But this Sweetheart of his has major plans, she feels suffocated in this dinky little place called Saharanpur and wants to make it big in Mean Mumbai. Sweet heart gives Shahid an ultimatum: Leave Saharanpur and follow her like a love lorn puppy or risk losing her!! But Shahid is way too much into his life, friends and family to chuck all that up for his dream girl. He however believes that he can go to Mumbai and convince his pretty lady to come back.

So like the true bollywood hero he alights a train from the railway station promising his Mom that he will bring back her ?Future Bahu?. Unfortunately Soha is in love with her new life and is hell bent on becoming an air hostess. Shahid, never the one to give up decides to shack out in Mumbai. He even gets a job at Planet M all thanks to a lively Store Manager (Gulshan Grover). He has to support himself while he is in the city of dreams you see. In the meantime he has many a run in, with a hot headed gal (Ayesha Takia) who lives in the same building as Shahid and apparently sees red every time the two come within a 50 mt radius. But her Mom is really fond of Shahid, even going to the trouble of teaching him how to make some khichri.

Now if that wasn?t enough there?s yet another girl from the Planet M store (Tulip Joshi) who becomes great friends with Shahid. Now as luck would have it, she is the complete opposite of Soha. She is sweet, caring, sensitive and sees everything Shahid?s way. She even loves Saharanpur for chirsts sake. She is apparently so much in love with the darned place that she asks Shahid if they could take a break and go sing songs along the lovely Saharanpur trees. They land in ?S? town and stay together in Shahid?s place. His Mom is disappointed that Beta dearest broke his promise but she is glad too that he has found someone else who is much better. What happens next is anybody?s guess. They sing a song and fall in love. Well..at least Shahid does. As he is about to confess his feelings to Tulip, she receives a call from Bombay and shoots off the same day with some flimsy excuse to leave our lover boy in a lurch.

He too comes back to Bombay only to find out that she is already engaged and was never in love with him. Shahid aint having much luck with Soha either so he decides to pack his bags and head home. But before he does just that he decides to pay one last visit to his beloved next door Aunty (Ayesha?s Mom). Ayesha aint home and Aunty dearest invites Shahid in for some Mexican Tacos and Cold Coffee. While Aunty is preparing the grub, Shahid decides to use the Computer to check his mail and stumbles across Ayesha?s diary. After fighting his conscious for a while he decides to go ahead and read it. And suffering spaceships, he discovers that all of the anger and ire was just a put on and Ayesha is head over heels in love with him. Now this is just too much to handle for our small town simpleton. He says Screw the Tacos..I am getting the hell outta here while I still have my senses intact. But as luck would have it, Shahid?s train doesn?t come but somebody else does. Yes it?s Ayesha who comes running on to the railway station to make sure she doesn?t loose her love. After much ado..both the lovebirds confess to each other and start chirping a song.

Finally everything is lovey-dovey and just perfect, but hold on..we are not done yet. Soha decides to come back into Shahid?s life and wants everything to go back to the way it was. Suddenly she doesn?t want a high flying career anymore and is willing to settle down with him. Now if you can believe it..Tulip too breaks off her engagement coz her pervert fiancée was two timing her and now she wants a piece of the pie as well. When Ayesha finds out about this, not in the best of circumstances, she never wants to see Shahid again and tells him to go stick his head under a running train. She actually doesn?t say that but you get the drift. Now how does Shahid deal with this mess. Is he able to find true love? If yes, then which is the girl that he finally settles down with to live happily ever after? To find out all that and be a part of some never ending tom-foolery you?ll have to go watch the movie.

The Verdict:

The story may seem interesting, but the treatment is nothing extraordinary. The first half is still enjoyable but the second half is a complete let down, insulting your senses on several occasions. Of the performances Shahid Kapoor is earnest breathing life into some very clichéd situations. He tries his best to carry the film through. Among the three girls it?s Ayesha Takia who is the life of the movie, she carries off her role with ease and panache. Soha Ali Khan is kinda stiff and Tulip Joshi..er..what can I say about her? She is Squint with a Capital S. No..seriously I aint kidding. Either she was wearing shades during the screen tests or I am sure the director must have been catching up on his forty winks. Finally it?s Gulshan Grover who provides the much needed comic relief with his fun-loving, skirt-chasing act. The music is ho-hum. Nothing to croon about really apart from Gustakh Dil.

So to take the baby home, go watch DMM if you are bored shitless, if you are going to a reasonably good cinema house with a nice ambience and an air conditioning system just in case you fall asleep and most importantly if your friend is buying your ticket. If not just stay home, pop some popcorn, surf the channels and save yourself a hundred bucks. There I just made you a hundred bucks richer.
