Last night I watched Dil Dhadakane Do and now I am repenting whyyyyyyyy?
Movie is all about rich families and relations within them. How families or relations are based only on vested interests(this is the only reality shown in the movie) and they literally suffer with each other.
Anil Kapoor(Kamal Mehra), A self made arrogant business man owns a company called AYKA. His company is going through financial crises still he plans his 30 anniversary on Cruise and invites many friends and relatives for the Europe tour. I wonder how a person who is already in trouble plans such expensive cruise of around 8000 Euros / person. He is on the verge of not being able to give salaries, banks have stopped funding him, he is looking for 49% investor and what not.
His Son, Ranvir sing and Daughter Priyanka Chopra and wife Shefali. Daughter married to Rahul Bose and she has her own business of travel portal which is very successful, son in bachelor and trying his luck in father's company and as and when gets time he flies planes(Licensed Pilot). Shefali is a house maker and her life is loaded with gossips, husband's affairs, many adjustments and compromises made in life and still with husband(as she has no other options or choice) and appears as good couple in front of society.
During the cruise, many incidents happen, poor gossiping females, their taunts about other families, their show off behavior and dramatic behavior in front of others, internally all are enemies or rivals. All typical things which we see in hindi TV serials.nothing special to mention here.
Enough of story here.
Movie is deaaaaaaaaad slowwww in first half, I felt like I am watching first half for 4-5 hours. Story doesn't moves at all. Second half is quite eventful and fast but movie miserably fails on delivering anything which is sense. Loaded and most of the movie time wasted in too many characters and showing their issues within them selves.
Some how story takes many turns and finally son and daughter rebel against father and his business and views. If you at all happen to see this movie then you can see how this rebel happens and concludes.
On cinematic experience front, movie can be rated 5 out of 10, movie cant provide you a great sightseeing experience. neither the cruise shots and intra-cruise things look luxurious.
Music & background score is OKOK.i dont remember any song right now.
Short story long is what happened with this movie, but only one fact which this movie highlights is, .every relationship on this earth is based on some or the other vested interest and everyone is mean and selfish. But we already know this fact right?
Now I should write about the star cast.A big list. and off course.too many cooks spoil the food.
Anil Kapoor - Same No Entry, Welcome and even Mission Impossible 4 types look & expressions(and character as well) on the face all the time, all the time effort towards pulling the fat belly inside while in front of camera, stretched forehead, jaw always in dropped position, one shoulder always lower than another and tad loaded with over acting. Tries to move his body more than necessary to show off he is still very energetic and young.Sorry Anil Kapoor fans.
Anushka Sharma - No acting skills, voice very rough, barely recognizable when she speaks and lips all the time spouted till upper lip touches the nose.badly done lip job baby. I wonder how she gets roles.Sorry Anushka fans.
Priyanka Chopra - Somewhat sensible, but she really needs a dubbing artist as in intense emotional scenes her voice is so cracky and dry.makes it unbearable. Secondly, in many shots she simply looks horrible due to her tooo bold-fat lips and camera angles.
Farhan Akhtar - enters very late in the movie and only after his entry, movie takes up the speed and movie becomes little bearable. Sensible guy, FA has done well.
Ranvir Sing - Most of the times his presence is good on screen and acted also well, but he tends to, rather prone to overact all the time. Good part is, he has a decent look in this movie, always covered in clothes completely and no over dressing, no over expressions, no funky clothes, shoes, no funky hair and that makes him look pleasant.
Shefali - A rich confused wife and mother, balancing things on the background of worst relationship with husband and always tries to show off that all is well in her life.nice done, subtle and nice expressions most of the time.
Overall, this is a movie, which you can live without or can watch on TV in next few days. Last night 80% cinema hall was empty, that speaks a lot. Only good part on direction front is.touched the issue of stressed relationships, personal lives of big families, few seconds on female equality and empowerment etc, but thats it. Zoya Akhtar miserably failed this time in creating a magic like ZNMD. But one thing you should appreciate about Zoya's direction is, she could have made this movie loaded with sexuality and vulgarity but she has kept it absolutely clean. Otherwise all other directors, while showing rich class, they always show their affairs in unwanted details.
Movies end looks typical like when story goes out of the control then wrap it up hurriedly by making people run behind each other and create huge chaos.
Dont expect much.personally I wont recommend this to anyone. Be Cautioned Be warned.invest your 3 hours wisely!
