Hi friend, so how was the film? Did you people like it?
Raju: Bakhwas picture hai yar...don't ask. I wasted my money and time for the nonsense. Luckily the film was only 95 minutes and saved rest of the time in my life. I need my money back. I didn't expect it from Amir Khan film.
Sonia: Raju, don't be so cruel. The film was actually good. Being from Mumbai I felt very nostalgic about the movie. Each of the frames reminds of life in the real light. I like it, but yes, it could have been better.
Soman: What you people are talking? This is one of the brilliant films of recent times. It is an art film at its best. Excellent...super excellent...This is Amir Khan's attempt for better.
Oh! I can see a mix of opinion here. So let us go to the details of it. Did you like the story?
Raju: What story? There is no story. No beginning, no ending. And Sonia, don't tell me that to portray Mumbai life it cannot be done with a story. Look at the film 'Metro' which I liked very much. And why they are giving the picture of South America to the Mumbai wali Dhobi Ghat in advertisements?
Sonia: Raju...stop talking nonsense. There is close knitted story. 4 characters, a painter, a photographer, a Dhobi and an innocent girl. Their life is interconnected in some way or other. It may be a moment or may be the place. Yes, it is interesting writing which made the film cool. I was always eager to know what next, what next....it is a suspense movie yar...
Soman: It is an excellent story where the city opens it's heart. Each place has a story to tell. People moves on but the story remains. It is the diary of Mumbai city. Look at the way the suicide of a character is portrayed without even showing him and the horror created in a moment! Great work!! For Raju, the reference to South America is intentional.
I am getting more curious now to have this diverse opinion. Now tell me about the cinematography.
Raju: What cinematography? My little child will do better camera work. All shaky camera work nearly got me headache. Don't remind me about it.
Sonia: Raju, you have no sense for the film. So why you even go for it? Dont' tell me that you come to theatre for me. TV Vala, the cinematography was good. I Enjoyed it. The rain scenes were superb and Mumbai...yes I love Bombai in the film.
Soman: Great camera works there! From shot one they captured soul of moments in perfection. Plus we get the feel that the movie is shooting in front of us. Great great work!!
What about editing?
Raju: What editing? They edited out all story. And the scenes are all interchanged. In one scene you can see they enter the theatre. After 5 scenes they book the tickets and again after 6 months they watch the movie. The address of the house is given at the end but the Rat killer knows them together in the room before that. It is all nonsense yar, unless the theatre people didn't played the movie in reverse. At least they should have played the movie once again, so that I could have sleep in the theatre.
Sonia: Raju, this is the limit. TV babu, the editing was quite good.
Soman: Excellent editing man! Only a high end professional can do this kind of miracle. And I don't want to reply to Raju as it will take away the entertainment the movie offers to intelligent audience.
What about the acting? I hope at least you people agree here.
Raju: Yes yes....Amir always has one style of acting and he copy pasted it again. Look at the other Munna guy. Why he is always after rats? In one he loves white rats and in this, he kills black rats. He is not fair. The Ghar wali ladki is like my neighbour yar she is not even seems like an actress. However, yes, the Photographer wali hot thi. Intelligent people may find it even as great acting!! Ha ha ha...
Sonia: Raju, you are a gone case. I am not going to come with you for another film. You have no sense for it and always were disturbing me while watching the movie. In fact Acting was excellent. Monica Dogra is superb. Prateik Babbar is rocking. Amir Khan was his usual self. Kriti Malhotra, I like the girl. I liked the speechless aunty as well.
Soman: Great acting there by all. In fact it is wrong to say acting, as the actors simply lived the characters. Full mark! By the way Sonia, why don't you join me for movie next week?
Oh guys, get cool...now a last question what you have to tell to the audience about the movie and what rating you will give for it?
Raju: Don't even dream of going for the movie. It is a complete waste of time and money. Nothing is real in the movie. Everything polished. Not even the Goons. For you Sonia, I know that you have a soft corner for Soman. I know that you were coming with me only because Soman didn't propose you. You are same like the wh*re in the movie. And do you need the address of Soman's flat? May be he will not give to you. I give 1 star.
Sonia: You are a bast*rd Raju. I took so long to know you. Go to hell. That is the right place for you. Yes, I liked Soman and will love him for ever. Ah, Parrot babu, the film was very good. It is a nostalgic movie and heart touching. I will give 3.5 stars
Soman: Sonia, you are my muse! I love you my angel. I like you the same way I like the film. It is a great piece of art. There are various layers for the film and only people with great logic can assimilate it. Look at the Munna guy who cleans the city by washing the dirty cloths, cleans the streets at night killing rats and even clear his own faults. Why he kills the rats? Is it to clean the city or to feed the cat? Or is it to feed his hunger? Look at the character Shai. Don't you see the way she induces the simple hearts and hard hearts with her wickedness to get things done in her way? Don't you see that it is another answer for the White Slumdogs? I will give the full mark 5stars. By the way Paul the Parrot, why are you not writing a review for this film?
Paul the Parrot: I think I will not be able to review this film without watching it one more time. Anyway, it is an art movie with some commercial elements in it so consider your tastes before deciding. Thanks friends, I will visit you again with another First Day show report.
