OK, not like its a must watch...but its a story, which is so put together that majority of the people who go on to watch it would somehow, some ware relate them selves or someone they know with one the characters!.. or so I very impeccably felt!?
Not in comparison with the old ones, (the original make and re-make that is) this movies might have used the same plot, but the director very well kept in mind the current trend, generation and foremost the young 'AASHIQ' as they call them selves in the tapori hindi language.. :)
This modern day Devdas doesn't really ruin everyone's expectations, yet show's you the point of view or shall I say the take of young lovers across our ethnicity. Yes, its not truly modern where the lover simply chooses to move on to other places or people where and with whom he has his way.
But does correspond to modern day ethical values that we keep still alive in our hearts.. ie: wish to be happily married, have 2 kids, parents wanting to marry kids of to childhood sweethearts etc etc..The movie very well clarifies that, the modern day romeo may spoil HALF his life.
If not full trying to win back the girl he doubted of infidelity (and further more was secretly infidel because of!!) but sooner or later he will find some one else and move on!!More over sex is important to him and so is adventure.. Yes I just very explicitly wrote the matter of fact the word 'SEX'.
As I went for it with my two younger siblings!! And regretted it within the first 3 mins of being inside the hall itself.. (but then again, we sat through it, cz not like teenagers today ar'nt watching anything they ar'nt suppose to with you knowing about it!!)
The point being, sexual behavior of the urban and rural homo-sapien alike has been very openly portrait in the movie. Be it the scenes or the dialog's.Also , it clarifies that the modern day Majnu will not drink himself to death because of her, rather enjoy the drinking part, but find way's to relate his accumulation of the habit of drinking or drugs to her in the end.
Ya its her fault!!!? Or is it??Also proven that Delhi woman in particular (no, not just any metropolitan!, or maybe am assuming so cos it hurt my feeling so!!) are more likely to do one night/day stands, wear improper cloths to even the most rural of weddings and finally be open about the ongoings in their whole notorious relationships altogether to the entire world!(yea yea..
I know movies are hypothetical to make em interesting... :p)Strangely enough though! it also underlines/highlights/puts light on the fact that village, city, metropolitan and mega-polis kids and adults alike can be shady, adventurously and randomly physically involved for satisfaction apart from drinking , doing drugs and crushing people on sidewalks with their cars!
Damn those small town mothers!! Ha, the director made it a point to clarify this doubt to them that they hold that we city kids are the only one's who should be given the doubtful wicked eye for it all!!One last point, I totally fell in love with the Chanda's character!! Unshy, direct, defeated, the second yet patient to achieve what she wants and know's how to get it!
The music throughout goes perfectly in sync with the mood and rhythm of the movie, though trust me when I say, you'll not really enjoy most of the songs otherwise, how ever in love you might feel with them watching the movie!!GO AHEAD, AT LEAST WATCH IT ONCE, YOU'LL BE SURPRISED TO SEE HOW MUCH YOU MAY HAVE IN COMMON WITH IT!
