I could have ended my review here. But if I do that “ Bhuat jute padenge yarr”. ;)I guess its compare with any of the “Devdas” released earlier would be not fair. Yes Anurag has used the same plot ( More or Less ), but the outcome of it is very different.

He has very beautifully improvised on the shortcomings of old “Devdas” and carved it in the modern era, such that it looks like the original “Devdas” is this and all those which released before were copies. I usually look forward to Anurag’s movies esp after “Paach”, “Black Friday” and now “Dev D”.

I would not tell u the difference between Dev D, and Devdas, and will leave that for u to figure that out. I will now talk only about the quality of direction, Music, and cast.

Direction of the movie is Perfect. Maybe it's a understatement. But I was’t able to find a better world. No word can explain the direction. Few highlights of the direction are the song “ Emotional aatyachar”, the way he has showed the inner feelings of Dev “Abhay deol” in that song is awesome.

When Dev meets Chuuni and when Dev is got hit by a drunken diver. Even if u don't want to watch the movie, u should watch this one just for the maestro direction. Now I come to Abhay Deol. Do I need to write anything? This guy, has made it for himself from nothing.

Starting form a movie like “Socha na Tha”, which was a debut for not only this guy, but also nearly everyone in the movie. The hero, heroine, director, writer, everyone was new. Everyone, even the viewers [;)]. From that point, to now Dev D, the only few thing that have helped him are his acting skills, selection of roles, and a cute smile. In Dev D, he seems to have given one of the **most memorable performance of his life.

* Every expressions on his face as loud and clear. Every dialog delivered is convincing enough. A character which u will love, hate, sympathize, empathize ( only if u have gone those all this ) all at the same time. Playing Dev in this movie was not simple, but the way Abhay has done it, it looked like a cake walk. Another great reason to watch the movie.

Anurag, has introduced two new heroines in this movie, one being “Mahie Gill”,who played the role of “Paro”, a bold and beautiful “jatni”(A cast of farmers ), who is ready even to send her nude pics when her BF ask’s her to. It was not too meaty role to play, but definitely a important one. She was a treat to watch, as she is good looking and has that ability to attract the viewer.

But, I somehow I had this uncanny feeling that her acting skills are were lacking cretin important traits, but was’t able to figure out exactly what they were. Maybe they got covered by some superb direction. But overall a good show by her.Another new gal in the movie is “Kalki Koechlin”. She is young, beautiful and cute.

I am sorry but in the whole movie I never found her too “hot”. Cute is the only word that comes in my mind when I see her. Though she played a role of prosttute, but I don't think her role demanded her to be very “hot”. She was good in her acting ( given this was her 1st attempt on big screen). Overall avery comprehensive performance. *

“Chuuni Lal” is played by “Dibyendu Bhattacharya”.All the time I was wondering that how the acting skills of this caliber have gone unnoticed before. We have been watching him in so many movies before, Hulla, Dan Dana Dan Goal, Mangal Panday, and many many more. Manybe because his roles were never too substantial. But given his role in Dev D, he has proved his mental in Acting.

One more very noticeable feature of the movie is its Music. Great Music, no doubt about it. But I am not talking about just music, but the way Anurag has used this music all throughout the movie. I personally have never noticed such a beautiful use of music as background score.

I thought AR Rehman is the only guy whom I would like for this, but Amit Trivadi of Dev D with Anurag has done wonders here. I would like to give them a salute for this. **Thank u guys for making movie like Dev D. Thank u Anurag, Thank u Amit, Thank u Abhay, Thank u Bollywood.

*Waise to, the whole movie is so beautifully made that its very difficult to pick up some highlighting scene from the movie. So, . I will not stress my mind, and would request u to watch this movie for the whole movie, and not for some scenes.
