Now you have one more serial to get bored. The trends in serial are not changing. You have one back-ground--
GUJARATI as in ''EK MAHEL HO SAPANON KA''
BANGALI as in ''KASAUTI JINDAGI KI''
N.R.I. as in ''DOLLAR BAHU''
U.P. as in ''KAHANI GHAR GHAR KI'' and now
PUNJABI as in ''DES MEIN...''
Each of the above so called ''family drama'' and clean serials, does nothing except twisting your emotional balance. Each has some bad female character that does something each time the family is smooth sailing.The back ground plot is such that you can pull on the serial endlessly.Or the other way, you can stop the serial the moment you want.
If we look at only the Des mein...the following are truely innovative (no matter, grossly inconvincing)situations.
1) Pammi and Anu always at daggers dawn with each other and surprisingly no one else in the family ever smells about it!
2) Anu freely declares becoming pregnant and then before the due course of time declares having become a mother.No one in the family has anything to doubt.
3) Rohan so good that he follows all the foolish plans of Pammi in order to help her. He never thought the Pammi's plan is bad, even though all have failed measurably.
4) Aruna Irani-the creator of the drama,forgives every one else except her husband even though all have played bigamy.
5) With London based plot, you have to tolerate bigamy by almost all the important heroes and still call it family drama.
6) Pammi fights with Anu and only Rohan knows about it-not even the mother-Aruna Irani.
I think time has come for STAR-PLUS to re-define family serials. In my opinion, Mirch-masala, Yatra, Gurukul etc are more family favourite than all the other nonsenses.
If required they should invite viewers to suggest plots and then tell Ekta Kapoor to frame up a family serial.
