I decided to gift my sister a laptop on her birthday . On 2nd January, we went to the Dell counter at Croma Aundh Pune and selected a Dell Mini(she wants it for home use) Delivery time promised was 7 days anywhere in India! . We make the payment(made such a fuss abt credit card. They wanted CVV number; took out cash frm an ATM and paid). We go back happy; she wanted it delivered in Kerala . Get a call after 7 days saying a certain delta form was missed and needed to be filled. I asked why it took 7 days for you to realize it . No answer! Tried putting pressure saying I wanted the order cancelled . To my surprise, they were more than happy to assist me! Guess Dell's doing really well in India:).
Keep my patience and go to the store at Pune and finds out it needs my sister's signature as the laptop is in her name. They agree to mail her the form. She fills it out and couriers it to the bangalore dell office on 13th . They would have received it on 15th at bangalore. Do status check on 18th. Nobody's got a clue . Go to the Pune store and they say parts unavailable and hence waiting for order to be processed . Kept calling every 2 days . Sometimes the guy is out for lunch, sometimes on sick leave, blaming co.workers for the delay . I heard it all . But they kept saying.
Your order is being expedited. Indeed it was. I learnt a new meaning for the term'expedite'. Lost my cool finally. Went to the store on 29th . Gave him a mouthful intentionally in front of 2 other customers . The status showed that the system had reached cochin warehouse. He promised delivery by 31st .'ur order is being expedited':) and now its the 2nd of Feb. If I had to drive from Cochin to my sisters place, it would hardly take 3 hours. And these guys couldnt ship it to her in 4 days! And the online status shows it'll be deelivered on the 4th! I really wanna go and slap the guy today. Hope something stops me from doing that . A Dell in India? Never again! That's a promise .
