Poor quality laptops combined with horrible after sales service - enough to drive you mad.

My experience - if at all you plan to buy Dell after reading this, please buy a screwdriver and take some hardware lessons. You will need it very soon.

I bought the Dell Inspiron laptop(service tag B1YV2BS) about six months back and used it only 15-20 times. The laptop has a 1 year onsite warranty. The laptop has been overly heating up below the touch pad area. It heats up within 2 minutes of boot up. I cannot use it after that.I called up the customtakeouter care and ticket number 2220912 was logged. The service person tried 1-2 things and it didnt help. Then he asked me to open the laptop and take out the hard disk and optical drive. I told them to send a service representative at home since I am not eqipped to open hardwares. I even told them I dont have a screwdriver to open it. Their reply - 'If you cant open it, we cant help you'.

Irritated to the core I asked them to put me on to their service manager. He was willing to escalate the issue. Not from the customtakeouter side but the support side!! He says he will send my issue to the Escalation department that customtakeouter is not cooperating!!! He says if I require support person to check the laptop I need to

pay Rs 1300 for which he would send the invoice. Payment is to be made before the visit. Imagine paying 1300 bucks as visiting fees for a product that is under warranty. When I threatened to take the issue to consumer court I was told Dell is a big company which cannot be touhed!!!!! Mr Vijay Kumar went on to explain me the service agreement rules and policies in detail.

First the quality of notebooks is pathetic. Lot of people have been complaining about it. They are getting cheap parts from China and assembling in India. Otherwise, so many laptops should not break down within 1 year of purchase.

Second the customtakeouter care is pathetic. Dell doesnt have service centers anywhere in India. Only way to get support out of them is to break your heads with the customtakeouter care people. If they had their center in Delhi where I am staying, I would thrown my laptop on their faces. This is a clever strategy of Dell to sell cheap products because they dont have to face the customtakeouters directly. They decide

how they want to handle a customtakeouter complaint. Baschandru021y, we are at the mercy of inexperienced stupid rude service guys on the other side of the phone. It is the arrogance of being a big company that can be seen from every action of this company. It should be ashamed of selling low quality products and employing sub standard people for supporting them. I have paid Rs 38000 not to become customtakeouter but one of the many beggars to this great company.

My advice - Dont get trapped with Dell.
