Now here's my review of my first laptop.DELL 1525 INSPIRON SERIES.
DELL was a grt rage last year.got my dell b4 joining the PGDM COURSE.
it has features like.2gb ram, 160 hdd, laptop bag, creative headphones, 1 yr waranty service, window vista home premium, webcam, dvd wr/rd.
COST: ABT Rs 40, 000 [ IN AMRITSAR(PUNJAB) IN JUNE, 2008].
DID NOT BUY ONLINE BUT RETAILER .
but leave these aside.major thing I would like to highlight are its Cons. or shortcomings coz good things you would know from other places as well.
am writing this after 1 year coz just now I realised what a mistake it is to buy these dell laptops.HERE GOES:
1)HEAVY.2.5 KG
2)LOW VOLUME SPEAKERS.CANT ENJOY WIDOUT HEADPHONES.
3)NOW MOST IMPORTANT THING:
AFTER ONE YERA IT STARTS GIVING YOU PRBLEMS.COZ AFTER ONE YR YOUR WARRANTY EXPIRES.
FIRST YOUR ADAPTOR WIL BURN OUT/STOP WORKING.
Now when u ask for replacement .they wil ask you to get warranty for 1 yr and they shall cover it there as special case and give replacement and that they dont hve as of now as spares but can give as covered under warranty for free.so take warranty.
the cost of warranty is around Rs 7700.and a adapter would come in range of
1400-2000 rupees.
SECOND PART: YOUR BATTERIES WOULD GO.
FIRST MESSAGE WIL BE DISPLAYED FOR SUMTIME A MONTH MAY BE FOR REPLACEMENT.AND LATER THEY WOULD JUST GIVE IT UP AND YOU CANT OPERATE YOUR LAPPY WIDOUT A/C ON ALWAYS CONNECTED.AM WRITING THIS REVIEW CONNECTED.
People I have not raeched this conclusion to see my laptop only but actually as I had joined the PGDM last yr in 2008.many of other college mates got laptops as well and many got dell.the same models.
now wierdly enough it just began like a chain reaction.
I started hearing that many of other were having problems with their adapters the same time my adaptor blew coz of over current.but then I started hearing that many of other ppl from college are having problems with their adapters while we all were at different places for our winter trainings.
Just a couple of month later, now as I have started writing this review, we here are now loosing the batteries.
it first started with my friend telling me this who has XPS SERIES LAPTOP.and the same week now batteries are all gone.and its roughly more than a yr we bought this laptops.
I am hoping that we would be hearing abt battery troubles soon from other batchmates.and I shall keep adding them.COZ ALL DELL LAPTOPS WOULD BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR MAINTENANCE COST.
SO AT LAST, WOULD SAY THAT DELL LAPTOPS ARE NOT A VERY GOOD BUY IN LONG RUN COZ OF HIGH MAINTENANCE AND PROBLEMS WHICH YOU WWOULD ENNCOUNTER AFTER 1 YR.WHEN YOU WARRANTY EXPIRES.
PLZ NOTE THAT EVEN IF YOU GET WARRANTY .YOUR BATTERIES ARE'NT COVERED .SO AGAIN NO USE.
