Pros:
4th Gen Intel Core i3 is a budget laptop meant for personal as well as professional users.
It runs on Ubantu 64 bit OS,
a dual-core 1.7 GHz

Intel HD graphics processor. The laptop has a 15.6 inch HD LED backlit display
with Truelife and 1366 x 768 pixels resolution.
It has 500 GB HDD,
4 GB DDR3 RAM and

. The Inspiron 15 3542 4th Gen Intel Core i3 comes with stereo speakers, Maxx Audio technology and 1 Year Accidental Damage Protection.
Cons:
These are specification with which this laptop comes but as we know no laptop in the
world can be perfect for long time i.e. it has also got practical operating issues like

Num lock back lit is not given that it causes a problem. You will have to type number with care because you never know whether num lock is active or not. This put pressure not num pad as you get annoyed and type rushly and hurriedly. This reduces the life of keyboard.

It produces too much of heat. Even you use it for 15 minutes or 30 minutes, it produces the same heat. The heat is so much so that if you use it by keeping it on your lap your thigh your thigh will not be able to tolerate this amount of heat. Ultimately, you need to remove it from there and place somewhere else.
3 The biggest problem I am having with this laptop is that if I use it for 2 hours or so and shut down from shut down button available on screen it does not shut down rather it goes in to sleep mode.
Now, you get seriously infuriated if suppose you have fully charged your laptop. And you shut it down well. You wake up in the morning and see red light which resemble that your battery is critically low you need to charge your battery. How you will feel? You know that you had charged your laptop in the night but you see battery is fully drained. Then, the question arises where did the battery power got consumed. You get mad at this.
Actually, your laptop did not shut down properly. and laptop fan was running all night uselessly.
I have witnessed this problem in dell devices specially.
My friend own i5 of same inspiron 15 3000 series. His laptop is, though 1 year old but mine is just two month old only, still the problem has intruded.
I called dell customer care and intimated this problem. He run few hardware tests but no issues found. He told me to update bios. That also I did. But, the problem didn't resolve.
He further guided me to download Haswell software. I did that also but, the problem is still there. I intimated him about this. Now, he is telling that this is not an hardware issue and he cannot resolve my problem. The fan is continuously running and it is not shutting down. I think it is a hardware problem. My got this problem removed in local service center. He paid 800 hundred Rs. for this.

The laptop screen is not pure white it is some what creamy, which I guess is less good than fully white screen.
These are the real issues that I have found.
