Disclaimer
If you are a person who crashes on fast, hard romantic trend setters, then delhi 6 is not the movie for you.
From the time of its launch, the movie has been blamed as a theme follower of Swades. The theme is almost same, but not the movie. It is a new attempt which does stress on the theme of unity which should be appreciated.
The movie may depict itself as a short documentary at first, but later catches the pace, but slowly.
*cast
Rakeysh Mehra may be knowing that veterans like Om puri, Pavan Malhotra, Supriya Pathak and Atul Kulkarni can create **attention to screen and even the rising talents are on the way like deepak dobriyal as Mamdu. Good work regardless of the small role!
main cast
Abi bachchan plays the cool NRI boy with a "sometimes US interfering" accent when he speaks hindi. His role can't be called "rocking" but has acted decently with not much faults visible and same is the case with Sonam Kapoor equalizing Abhishek by doing the role given to her well. Rishi Kapoor's acting shows us what experience can help in a career. Prem Chopra and Vijay Raaz have nothing much to do. Divya Dutta's role as the underdog Jalebi is fine.
music
rahman being the gaurantee god provides soul to every movie scene. There is not even one song which can be termed uncatchy. Maestro!
*cinematography
*worth mentioning that Mehra takes special attention for camera work in case of his every movie.A large applause to cinematographer, Binod Pradhan.
direction & summary
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has extra creative ideas(especially during songs and some scenes), being an ad maker for more than 150 stuffs, hope it was not that hard for him to fantasize scenes, but the hard work is visible in the movie and so he should get a kudos for it. His themes are a bit too standard for normal audiences, but still the Kaala Bandar does deliver a message.
On the whole, Delhi 6 doesn't make uslaugh or cry, but does give a feel of difference. It is supposed to attract middle-aged and old audience much. The movie doesn't give "Waawu" or "Wow", but "oh, okay, all right, good"
