7 fantastic reviews already on MS for this and I decide to pen the 8th one! God help all those who read this one!

Aarti – Rekha, Kishori gowariker, shradha pandit and sujata mazumdar come together to weave magic with the Sitar playing slowly in the background. The composition is unique because it has a very earthy feel. You are bound do remember Ek Onkar from Rang de basanti when you hear this one out

Arziyan(Maula mere Maula) – A dargah qawwali with supreme devotion and total surrender to the lord. This composition is very un-rehman like, simply because of the sheer predictability of the tune. It isn’t embellished with typically multi layered vocals and heavy bass lines the like Khwaja mere Khwaja(the closest tribute to Sufism by AR Rehman till date) but is a masterpiece nevertheless. . Kailsh Kher has this tendency to go totally out of control if not supervised and thank God AR Rehman keeps knows where to oversee and where to overlook. Javed Ali is as usual at his soothing best.

Bhor Bhaye – Shreya Ghoshal will wear a T-Shirt which would have ‘ I sang with Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan’. AR Rehman cleverly records Shreya Ghoshal with an old morning raag Gujri todi(Raag Gujari/Gujri todi used here is sung in Todi that) that is the specification as to which of the alternate forms of swar will be chosen. While some may say Shreya has done a great job, if one gives this a patient un-biased hearing they can easily identify how weak and shrill Shreya Ghoshal is(Hit me!). Rakeysh om prakash mehra better has a good explanation to tell us why Late Ghulam Ali Khan saab was a part of this song.

Ye Dilli hai mere yaar – Oh Rehman the greatest! The song starts with a faint back speaker vocal and transforms itself to a Delhi Anthem of sorts. AR Rehman made the pitter patter of train sound great in his music of ‘the gentleman’(song chiku puku chick puku railey) and this time he goes a step ahead and uses the siren of the train to further his ends! Go find it where it comes in the song and if you can’t find it, well don’t try hard! This song gives any old Rehman fan goose bumps and for good! The rap in betweem, the wack sounds…all and all…amazing sound of music.

Dil Gira Daffatan – Prasoon Joshi goes ‘creative’ using hindi(Nayan) and urdu(Daffatan)…but then one will not complain the moment this song starts. The song is sung by Ash king and chinamayee. Ash king should give himself a pat on the back as this is the most difficult song of this album. The use of Bass guitar grows on you slowly and simply(as intended by AR Rehman!). One of the rare love songs which you MUST hear loudly to FEEL the bass getting on to your senses

Genda Phool - The free flowing Rekha Bharadwaj comes back to her girlfriends to complain what a boring place her ‘in laws’ house is! A folk taste, tiring sound of the singer and very audible pun-filled tones of the friends makes this piece a very ‘naughty’ one. The only pre-requisite is – you should know PURE hindi(the word Bu-shirt is used in this song which is a very old way of addressing the shirt). Thoroughly enjoyable short song!

Hey Kala Bandar – A perfectly sarcastic song camouflaged in silly https://lyrics. If used well this could be the highlight of this movie. The tone is very electric, the sound – Very Rehman-ic! Do give it a patient hearing and do hear the singer has conveyed ‘we complain but we pass the buck’ feeling in the song! Must listen!

Masakali – Aah Mohit Chauhan! The king of intensely romantic songs(Guncha koi – from main meri patni aur wo, Tumse hi – jab we met) showed us why he can sing ‘Khoon chala’ and pull it off in Rang De basanti and he comes back with a bang to sing this brilliant piece of ‘Arab inspired’ masti song! The way Mohit emphaises Kaleee in the last part of the song will actually tell you how much he was enjoying this song as he was singing! Delhi 6 is got to be an intense movie and the makers have cleverly let this song out to create a ‘happy’ buzz. Games people play! 10 out of 10 to AR Rehman yet again!

Noor – Amitabh Bachchan springs to action with this one but before you notice, this short sufiana nazm comes to an end. AR Rehman is making it very obvious to add a bit of Sufism in all his albums these days but the credit for this one goes out to the lyricist! Kudos!

Rehna tu – The king at it again! AR Rehman goes behind the mic, along with Benny and Tanvi for this one. The song starts and almost immediately forces you to imagine yourself with your beloved in an open Cadillac on the country side. The song has a liberating feel to it and Rehman gives us a lot of ear-candy© to go ooooh aaaah! Truly Rehman

Truth be known I swear on AR Rehman(Ghajini and Yuvraj not withstanding) and he is giving me more reasons to do so. This album deserves to be up there in your collection for the sheer variety it oozes. Don’t waste your time and buy this because a day without hearing this is a day wasted
