After reading the reviews on Deccan Harvest, my family decided to visit this place. We called the restaurant for our table booking. The person on the other side who was rude had to be reminded to take my name for the booking ( I am not sure what is the point in booking the table without a name) I reached hotel, which looked great from outside.
When I walked inside the restaurant, I found the place noisy for a fine dine restaurant. It reminded me of a Gymkhana/Club bar where the guests talk loudly to be heard. I waited at the entrance for a good 3-4 mins before one manager arrived. I told him I have a reservation. He promptly denied having any reservation in my name. He did not even check the booking list. I showed him my call list on my cell phone. He told me that does not mean anything(sic!). He rudely told me you wait. It was past 10 and far away from the city for me to drive back for a decent meal.
Finally, I got a table. The waiters were running around looking busy like a udipi restaurant. After 10 mins, I requested them to serve me water and send me a menu card. Menu card arrived not the water. Menu Card was sticky and torn in some pages. I ordered my drink, soup and starters expecting a delay in service. To my surprise the soup came first. Soup was served in a plastic bowl. Not something you expect from a fine dining restaurant. That is when I noticed all the crockery were in plastic. My chicken manchow soup was not the normal thick soup that we are used to. It was watery though I would not say it was tasteless. It was different.
Next to arrive was my Rum without coke. I made multiple request for coke. After 2 requests, I finally got my coke. I had ordered Mutton Sheek Kebab and Prawns tandoori in green chutney ( I dont remember the name on the menu) The portions of soup and starters was small. Kebab was dry. Prawns was burnt. The tail was burnt black. I told the waiter the prawn was burnt and he told me that it was only the tail( As if this is the first time I am eating a prawn dish). I insisted he get me a fresh plate.
My struggle with drinks and coke continued. The bar tenders waiters made sure they were important in that restaurant. Finally the main course. By this time my expectation for the main course was set right and I guess I did not complain.
I am foodie. My family goes out every weekend for dinner. I have recently shifted to Pune and been to many restaurants in Pune. I would rate this experience to be worst in all accounts, Service was very poor. Food below average. Ambience average. Value for money low. I pity people staying in Magarpatta city or working here. I guess they have no other option.
