Oh God - Tomorrow is the Result.
Jun 06, 2006 05:17 PM 3602 Views

Before giving my thoughts on this topic, please go thru this small letter...

Dear God,

My results are coming out tommorrow. Papa has promised me choclates and a trycycle if I get first rank.

I don't know if I will get it. Because I think I did badly in social studies. I knew all the answers, but couldn't remember the name of the prime minster. Was it Manmohan Singh or Sonia Gandhi? I see both of them all the time on TV. And I am sure Ramesh has the right answer to it. He, most of the times, gets the right answers. He is also very good at mathamatics. That's another subject I am scared of. He beat me in the last two exams. I don't know how he gets all the corect answers. How he is allways first in the class. Oh God! Can't I be first at least once.

Papa and Amma want me to beat Ramesh. I had to stay awake till 11 o' clock at night this exam. And I had to wake up at five in the moning. Papa tells me I have to do it becose Ramesh does it too. Do you know how dificult it is to stay awake? But I had to becose this time I have to come first.

I had come third in the Christmas exam. Papa didn't give me the choclate I was promised. He said only good children get presents. I am bad becose I didn't come first. Why is Ramesh allways first in the class?

He is also good at drawing. He sings too. He can even write. Last year he got five first prizes. I got only two. I came second in three contests. Ramesh was first in all those comptitions. Now I am learning singing from a music teacher. She says I will definitly get first prize next year. And I used to attend drawing classes. I like that. I like drawing hills and trees and flovers. But Papa says singing is better than painting. So now I only attend music classes.

Ramesh is the Teacher's favorite. She says we all should be like Ramesh. We should learn to speek like him, walk like him, comb hair like him, smile like him, dress like him. She never scolds him. Last week he didn't do homework, she just said, "Dont forget next time." When I didnt bring the assignment, I was made to stand in a corner. Why is that? Next time he doesn't do homework, God, please make him stand in the corner.

Do you know those who come first, come on television? I didn't know that. Yesterday, Hari bhaiya's photo came on TV. Amma says he came first in Class XII. Today his photo is there in the newspaper too. Hari bhaiyya says he wants to be an enginear. The newspaper says so. Now my Amma wants me to be like Hari bhaiyya. She wants me to come first in twelfth standard. If I do, I will come on TV. Shobha aunty, Raman uncle, my friends at school and all others will see me on TV. But that can only happen if I beat Ramesh.

Oh God, please help me.

If I don't come first in twelfth standard, please cut off the electricity when it's news on TV. I don't want Papa and Amma to see Ramesh on television. But please give electricity when news is over. My favorite programme is Superman. It comes just after the news.

Yours,

Mintu

And God, please dont tell Papa that I wrote to you.

Also, please dont tell teacher and papa if my spellings are wrong.

Well, come to me and I can show you atleast 40 children out of 50 who will 100%relate to this particular letter.

Is today's education system worth such efforts from any student? Arent we putting unnecessary load on them when they anyway have to clear clear thousands to entrance test to get a seat into some professional course?

The level of expectations will always rise. But then its on us, elders to make sure that our children and siblings do not fall to this pressure.... Instead make them rise in it.

Mind you the current pressure on these students does not remain till there boards but even after that in view of the numerous entrance exams. Shouldnt the Education minister be looking into such things.... Ohh... Excuse me.... Why am I banging drums next to deaf years.... Our country has the proud history of having education ministers who have not studied beyound 4th standard... And I expect them to understand the pressure students of 12th and 10th go thru... How sick I am...

In todays world, isnt it our mistake to let this pressure take over our younger ones.

I have always belived in Live and Let Live. Then why are we not allowing our siblings to live life to the fullest?????

Life is a combination of different exams.....

If Life is a war...

Then these exams are the battles....

Can we allow our younger ones to lose the WAR just for the sake of some small battles????
